In the middle and late Ming Dynasty,the social economy was highly developed,and the society began to transform from the traditional feudal society to the modern society.In this context,the Ming Dynasty society gradually formed a fashion of advocating consumption,pursuing material wealth and extravagance.This social ethos is most concentrated in the south of the Yangtze River.Under the influence of this world style,people began to pursue spiritual enjoyment on the basis of meeting the basic needs of life.Many literati,doctors and even ordinary people were involved in the collection and appreciation of works of art,such as calligraphy,painting and antiques,which made the art market in Jiangnan area in the late Ming Dynasty develop rapidly and the scale is far ahead of the times.In this paper,Feng Mengzhen's daily life experience during the 18 years recorded in the diary is investigated,and the participation of the literati and officials in the south of the Yangtze River in the late Ming Dynasty in the collection and appreciation activities,as well as the operation mode and composition of the calligraphy and painting market at that time are discussed.At the same time,we should look back on the influence of literati and officialdom in Jiangnan area in the late Ming Dynasty on the art market at that time,and explore the organic linkage between the taste of collection and the market participants in Jiangnan area in the late Ming Dynasty.
