Awakening Of Color

As an image factor,color has written a splendid brush in the Western painting history,beginning with Impressionism,which entered the historical stage with an innovative attitude in the 1860 s and 1870 s,Post-Impressionism initiated a new Times and color expression in modern and contemporary paintings,such as Fauvism,Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism,was completely liberated during that time.The central topic of this paper is the color historical self-presentation in western paintings,and the fundamental point is that color can be the core factor of visual art.Combing the innovation and transformation of color in several periods in the western painting history,this image factor seeks inspiration for the continuous exploration of its possibility in the art history.What is the source of color? As the basis and premise of studying color,its perception is as long as the human development history,although people’s color application has last for thousands of years,but the truly independent significance of chromatics is later than the visual science and artistic anatomy,it starts the development in the modern Times,this is because chromatics should be based on the study of optics.With the prism of light,the British physicist Newton made people realize the source of color in the 17 th century,the original color presented by objects is not their natural property,but is the color phenomenon with the change of color and light.The visual aspect of perception is an inseparable part of visual art.With the help of perception,this paper establishes a visual mode of color in the coordination with light and eyes.However,it is a narrow sense to study color by relying entirely on intuition.Throughout western paintings,the innovative color practices of Artists such as Monet,Gauguin,Cezanne,Matisse,Munch and Roscoe have influenced the color revolution history.Color has been endowed with more meanings from imitation,intuition,emotion and spirit.Nowadays,color not only occupies the picture as the protagonist,but also presents more diversified colors and completes its transformation from the subject to the noumenon.The inquiry of color subjectivity is not the ultimate target,after having the study of color,I realize that art is very inclusive,the art communication is very necessary nowadays and even in the future.Color,as one of the elements,not only develops itself,but also conveys the artistic connotation ofartists together with other factors.
