Based on humanistic theory, affective filter hypothesis and ternary interactive determinism, this paper studied 250 south Asian students in Guangzhou, aiming to find out the relationship between Chinese learning anxiety and self-efficacy.According to the questionnaire survey, firstly, the south Asian students in Guangzhou have moderate anxiety about learning Chinese.Test anxiety and communication fear are the main causes of foreign students' Chinese learning anxiety. In addition, south Asian students are more afraid of comparing themselves with other students than students from other parts of Asia, but they are more comfortable interacting with Chinese people.Individual factors such as gender, age,Chinese learning duration and personality had no significant effect on the anxiety of foreign students.Second, the self-efficacy of south Asian students in Guangzhou is low.Among them, the average self-efficacy of oral English and writing was the lowest.Individual factors such as gender, age,Chinese learning duration and personality did not show significant differences in the self-efficacy of foreign students.Third, there is an obvious negative correlation between the two, that is to say,the higher the degree of Chinese learning anxiety, the lower the self-efficacy of south Asian students from Guangzhou, and vice versa. All dimensions of Chinese learning anxiety are affected by self-efficacy.In addition, the interview results were almost consistent with the questionnaire survey results, which again verified the authenticity of the questionnaire survey results. On this basis, the author puts forward several countermeasures and solutions to alleviate the Chinese learning anxiety and improve the self-efficacy of foreign students from the perspective of schools,TCSL teachers and foreign students.
