| This article analyzes around the two clues, there are "Satyasiddhi-Sastra" and "The elimination of three minds".The first is to sort out the various concepts in "Satyasiddhi-Sastra",it includes three existences(Pseudonym,Real existence,Sunya),three minds(the minds of the Pseudonym,Real existence,Sunya),subjective mind(citta, manas, vij?āna),cognitive process(vij?āna-skandha,sa?j?a-skandha,vedanā-skandha,sanskhdra-skandha),double Two-satya(world-satya,real-satya,Paramārtha-satya),sopadhisesa-nirvāna and Nirupadhisesa-nirvana,they are all constructed under an ideological system called"The elimination of three minds ".The mind in Satyasiddhi-Sastra refers to mental activity in a narrow sense, which shows a diversity. The subjectivity of the mind comes from consciousness, and the realization of the subject is the function of cogitation. The combination of the three parts shows that the mind has been keeping changing absolutely.Although the three existences exist objectively,Satyasiddhi-Sastra is a sastra which written from the perspective of individuals. And three hearts represent the cognitive level of the three existences. The aim of Satyasiddhi-Sastra is to reveal sūnya by the elimination.People can eliminate the mind of phenomenon by the practice of samatha-and-vipassana(stopping and contemplation),and enter into the ngondro. With the achievement of the wisdom on sunya and the practice of the anasrava-samadhi,Buddhist practitioner can prove the sunyata on pancaskandha.Nirupadhisesa-nirvāna is acquired only through the elimination of the body and mind.It makes itself as the same as sūnya. The second is to explore the historical status of the" elimination of three minds " and the reasons for its disappearance. The elimination of three minds in Satyasiddhi-Sastra is related to the three dharma seals of primitive Buddhism. It is an integration of various ideas in the same period, and it is also a response and return to the thought of the "Nirvāna"in the primitive Buddhism.Due to it was a tough time when Satyasiddhi-Sastra had been introduced into China. This systematic and operable sastra had been respected. In fact, because of the negativity of "revealing sūnya by the elimination",it is not corresponded with the idea of "rebirth"of traditional Chinese culture."The elimination of three minds" has never been valued, and it was quickly replaced by the Mahayana’s thought of the "Nirvāna",which is called the middle way of the Buddhata.Although the theory of "The elimination of three minds" is dying, the "two-satya"and "three existences" as its composition, have certain influence in later generations. The Two-satya in Satyasiddhi-Sastra comes from the sarvastivadin.Two-satya originated from the interpretation of Dharma,it is characterized by the analysis of the Four-satya,which rarely appears in the Madhyamika and Prajna.Even if the Satyasiddhi-scholars of the later generations abandoned the " elimination " and the " pancaskandha " as the connections, this theoretical model of Satyasiddhi-Sastra could not be changed. The three existences of Satyasiddhi-Sastra form a progressive structure of the concept of sunya, and the Prajna’s concept of sunya is a parallel structure.Afterwards, the Satyasiddhi-scholars integrated the three existences into the theory of Two-satya for spread.Even if they absorbed the thoughts in Three-treatises school, they could not change the limitations of their own situation and theory of Two-satya.So it It was finally judged by Ji Zang as a Hinayana, and had been gradually disappeared in history in the end. |
