A Synchronic And Diachronic Investigation Of The Adverbs "good Life", "good Or Not" And "good"

The adverbs"Hao sheng(??)","Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)"are all"Hao(?)X"adverbs with the"Hao(?)"morpheme.The interpretation of the adverb"Hao sheng(??)"in the Modern Chinese Dictionary(Seventh Edition)is similar to the degree adverb"Hao bu(??)"and the adverb"Hao hao(??)".Therefore,it is necessary to explore the differentiation of the adve rb"Hao hao(??)"and to distinguish the syntactic,semantic and functional differences between the adverbs"Hao sheng(??)"and"Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)".In order to make the research more adequate,this article adopts the research method of combining synchronic and diachronic.In terms of duration,through the grammaticalization and lexicalization theories,the development paths of the adverbs"Hao sheng(??)","Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)"are sorted out and the reasons for their succession are anal yzed.In terms of synchrony,through corpus search,the syntactic features of the adverbs"Hao sheng(??)","Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)"are summarized.The results show that the usage frequency,syntactic combination ability and co-occurrence ability of the adverb"Hao sheng(??)"in modern Chinese are not as good as the adverbs"Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)".Secondly,the semantic structure analysis method is used to describe the semantics of"Hao sheng(??)","Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)"by describing the semantic elements derived from adverbs and the relationships between the elements.The study found that the adverb"Hao sheng(??)"has semantic ambiguity between the expression and the degree of expression.The adverbs"Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)"are more semantically rich than"Hao sheng(??)".In addition,the article further examines the subtle differences in the pragmatic functions of the adverbs"Hao sheng(??)","Hao bu(??)"and"Hao hao(??)".Studying the evolutionary relationship between"Hao(?)X"adverbs and the differences in their use of functions will help to understand the competition and division of labor between words,solve the problems of vocabulary teaching of synonyms,and at the same time provide a reference for the dictionary entry compilation.
