Background: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS)is a complex rotational curvature disease of the spine occurring in the three-dimensional plane.Epidemiological surveys show that the prevalence of AIS is about 2%-3%,with an overall prevalence of 0.47%-5.20%worldwide,and that there is a growing trend toward younger age groups.Currently, the main treatment modalities for AIS include surgery, brace therapy and exercise therapy.Numerous studies have confirmed the positive effect of exercise therapy as a conservative treatment modality for the treatment of AIS with many advantages such as low cost, few side effects, high benefit and operability. In view of this,it is important to investigate the effect of core stabilization exercises(CSE)on the prevention and treatment of AIS.Objective: This paper compares the changes in height, weight, chest circumference, spirometry, seated forward bend and Cobb's angle of AIS patients before and after the experiment, and analyzes the potential mechanism of the changes,so as to provide a useful theoretical basis and exercise prescription program for the prevention and treatment of mild AIS.Methods: This paper was mainly studied by literature-based,experimental and mathematical statistical methods.Thirty cases of mild AIS were selected from elementary school students in grades 4-5 as the study subjects, and then the patients were divided into experimental and control groups, with 15 cases in each group. The experimental group underwent a 12-week,3 times/week(Monday,Wednesday,Friday),50 min/time CSE intervention, which consisted of hip bridge exercises, prone two-point support exercises, supine curl exercises, supine leg lifts, prone mountain climbing, lateral support exercises, supine two-head raises, and eight-level abdominal bridge exercises. The control group did not undergo any regular exercise intervention and did not undergo other forms of AIS correction.Subjects' height, weight, chest circumference, spirometry, seated forward bend and Cobb angle indices were recorded and analyzed at the end of the intervention. Results: There was no statistical significance(P > 0.05)between all indicators in the exercise and control groups before the experiment, and the groups were balanced and comparable. The comparison between the indexes before and after the experiment was analyzed by paired samples t-test,and the variability of the indexes between the experimental group and the control group was analyzed by independent samples t-test.1)There was no statistically significant(P>0.05)increase in the height of AIS patients, although there was a certain increase in the height of AIS patients in both the intra-group comparison before and after the intervention and the inter-group comparison between the experimental group and the control group.2)Both the intra-group comparison before and after the intervention and the(P>0.05);(3)the chest circumference of AIS patients had some increase, but it was not statistically significant(P>0.05),both before and after the intervention and between the experimental and control groups;(4)after the intervention, the spirometry of the experimental group increased significantly compared with that before the experiment(P < 0.01),while the difference between the lung volumes of the control group and the pre-experimental group was not significant(P > 0.05);compared with the control group, the lung volumes of the experimental group increased significantly after the intervention(P < 0.05);5)after the intervention, the index of sitting forward flexion of the experimental group increased significantly compared with the pre-experimental group(P < 0.01),while the difference between the index of sitting forward flexion of the control group and the pre-experimental group was not significant(P > 0.05);compared with the control group, the index of sitting forward flexion in the experimental group increased significantly after the intervention(P <0.01);6)after the intervention, the Cobb angle in the experimental group decreased significantly compared with the pre-experimental group(P < 0.05),while the difference of Cobb angle in the control group was not significant compared with the pre-experimental group(P > 0.05);compared with the control group, the index of Cobb angle in the experimental group decreased significantly after the intervention(P <0.05).Conclusion: 12 weeks of CSE can effectively reduce Cobb angle in patients with mild AIS and is an effective treatment for mild AIS.
