Background: Ataxia is a common motor dysfunction in patients with cerebellar stroke,Which severely affect the patient's activities of daily living, and it is a difficult point in rehabilitation. The existing rehabilitation methods are not satisfactory, and it is necessary to explore new methods of rehabilitation for patients with ataxia. Objective: To observe the effects of Ortho Suit combined with routine ataxia rehabilitation training methods on balance function, walking ability and ability of daily living of patients with ataxia after cerebellar stroke.Method: According to the random number table,Forty patients with cerebellar stroke were randomly divided into two groups: routine ataxia rehabilitation training group(control group)and Ortho Suit combined routine ataxia rehabilitation training group(experimental group). The control group was treated with routine ataxia rehabilitation training, and the experimental group was treated with Ortho Suit combined routine ataxia rehabilitation training for 6 weeks. Before and after training, the two groups of patients were evaluated functionally. The International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale(ICARS)was used to evaluate the patients' ataxia symptoms, and the Berg Balance Scale(BBS)was used to evaluate the balance function of the patients. The 3meters timed up and go test(3M TUGT)was used to evaluate the patient's walking stability, the 10-meter walking speed test(10M WST)was used to evaluate the patient's walking speed, and the modified Barthel Index(MBI)was used to evaluate the patient's ability of daily living(ADL).Result: After 6 weeks of training, the scores of ataxia, walking stability, walking speed, balance function, and activities of daily living of the two groups were significantly improved(P<0.05),and the scores of the experimental group was better than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Compared with conventional rehabilitation training methods, rehabilitation training for ataxia patients on the basis of wearing Ortho Suit can better improve the patient's ataxia symptoms, balance function and walking ability, and improve the patients' activities of daily living. Background: The Orthosuit therapy is a new method of rehabilitation,Which shows the efficacy and prospects of its application in patients with motor control disorders, but the kinematics performance of the patients after wearing is not clear. Objective: To observe the immediate effects of Orthosuit on trunk motion capture and hemiparetic limbs' surface electromyographic(s EMG)signals in stroke patients. Methods: Twenty stroke patients performed forward stretching activities with hemiplegic upper limb in standing before and after wearing Orthosuit.A motion capture system was used to measure trunk forward flexion, rotation and lateral flexion angles. We also use a s EMG system to analyse the integral EMG(i EMG)values of pectoralis major, anterior deltoid fasciculus, middle deltoid fasciculus, upper trapezius, biceps brachii, triceps brachii, rectus femoris, gluteus medius, tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius on hemiplegic side,as well as the cooperative contraction rate(CR)of the triceps. Results: Compared with no Orthosuit wearing, the trunk forward flexion and lateral flexion angles were reduced with Orthosuit worn when stretching forward(p<0.05).The i EMG values of anterior deltoid fasciculus, upper trapezius, middle deltoid fasciculus, biceps brachii, rectus femoris, gluteus medius and gastrocnemius were increased(p<0.05),attaching with the CR values of triceps brachii increased(p<0.05).Conclusion: Orthosuit can assist hemiplegic patients to stabilize posture, provide trunk support and limit abnormal compensatory posture,as well as improving the motor control ability of upper and lower limb muscles.
