Stimulating urban vitality,building a beautiful habitat,improving the quality of the urban environment,and highlighting the characteristic culture of the city have become the focus and research direction of urban planning and urban design in recent years.Urban waterfront node space ecological landscape resources are relatively rich,relying on public buildings,open spaces or traffic channels,with ecology,gathering,transmission,rest,exchange and other spatial functions,as a functional center in a certain area while concentrating on the city's historical features,inheriting urban culture,but also for urban residents to provide high-quality living places in an important area.Reflecting on the current situation,some waterfront node space design methods converge,presenting the "one side of a thousand cities",the urban waterfront style that lacks urban characteristics,and the lack of cultural identity of residents;Excessively restrictive to the functional layout and rigid control of the upper-level planning,and failed to focus on the needs of functional activities,resulting in the design being divorced from the actual experience,the low utilization rate of space,and the failure of the waterfront node space to give full play to its functional value.With the improvement of people's requirements for the quality of living environment,the current situation of waterfront node space needs to be solved urgently,and it is of practical significance to systematically study the design of urban waterfront node space on this basis.This article is written according to the idea of "basic research-inductive analysis-method construction-application argument".The introduction part of the article introduces the research background,research purpose and significance,and clarifies the research content and scope of this paper;The second chapter sorts out the research content and design basic theories at home and abroad,analyzes and interprets the excellent cases of different waterfront attributes,location conditions and functional characteristics,and excavates the commonalities and differentiated key designs of waterfront node space design under different conditions;The third chapter summarizes and analyzes the spatial characteristics of waterfront nodes,and discusses the construction of an urban waterfront node space design component system.According to the different location,natural environment and leading functions of space,the urban waterfront node space is summarized into five categories: public activity type,commercial leisure type,historical and cultural type,residential and leisure type,and natural ecology type,and the difference between the waterfront node space of different types of cities and the existing problems in the waterfront node space are clarified;The fourth chapter is the theme research part of the paper,focusing on the meso and microscopic two levels on the basis of theoretical research,trying to build a "binary" design method,proposing a combination design method and a key design method from the aspects of space as a whole and a part,focusing on key problems,meeting actual needs,flexibly responding to different conditions and different functions of waterfront node space,and focusing on differentiated design.The fifth chapter of the paper selects the typical waterfront node space in the downtown area of Liaocheng City as an example,and demonstrates the application of the research theory.Liaocheng City is located in the west of Shandong Province,with abundant water resources,with a variety of waterfront types and land and water layout forms;The waterfront has a profound historical and cultural heritage,is a famous national historical and cultural city,and the waterfront node space has strong humanistic elements,which is typical and representative.This paper analyzes the current situation of different types of typical waterfront node spaces within the scope of the study,and the analysis content focuses on the design component system,and conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis through data consultation,field research,questionnaire surveys,etc.The current problem is more prominent,and the representative examples put forward the spatial optimization design scheme,and the application demonstration of the "binary" design method is carried out in order to improve the quality of urban space,benefit the urban tourism economy,establish a livable,harmonious and dynamic urban public space for residents,and provide reference ideas for the design of waterfront node spaces in other cities in China.
