Research On The Design Of Urban Public Toilets Based On Service Design

Nowadays,a new round of toilet revolution is raging all over the country.Public toilets are an important part of urban infrastructure,not only facilitate the public,but also reflect the government's public service capability.At present,improving the level of public services is an issue of increasing concern to governments around the world.Therefore,this thesis introduces the thinking of service design into the design of public toilets,aiming to separate public toilets from the previous positioning of " a place used for excretion " and transform them into a public service offering comprehensive services.The theoretical research part is carried out in the context of "history-present-future".(1)The history: The main research content is the development of eastern and western toilet culture and the current situation of toilet design at home and abroad.Firstly,by combing,analyzing and comparing the development of eastern and western toilet culture,the author summarizes the historical experience of the material and spiritual aspects,which provides reference for the follow-up design research.Secondly,through the study of the current situation of the design of public toilets in the world and combining with excellent cases,the thesis points out that the design of public toilets in the city has shown a trend of changing from function to service.(2)The present: According to the changing trend of public toilet design,the concept of service design is introduced,and the public toilet is regarded as a public service system.This part focuses on the analysis of three elements of the public toilet service system,including stakeholders,touchpoints and process.Firstly,through the differentiation of the core stakeholders,namely,the toilet users' toilet demand,the service modules for different users are established.Secondly,the design requirements of different service modules are put forward by analyzing the touchpoints and service process.(3)The future: The SET theory is introduced to analyze the public toilets based on the three elements of social trend,economic power and advanced technology,to explore the opportunities for innovative design of the public toilets service system.This part studies the needs of other stakeholders in the public toilet system,and adds an analysis of the roles of the LGBT community,public toilet managers and operators.At the same time,this thesis explores the innovation of current and future public toilets in business model,operation mode and platform management,establishes other service modules,and puts forward the design requirements of corresponding service modules.In the design practice part,based on the investigation results of the current situation of public toilets in Confucius temple area,the thesis proposes improvement strategies for the existing problems,conducts subdivision design research on each service module,and finally realizes the three aspects of service module design,the overall design of public toilets,and the design of public toilets system.
