A Case Study Of Environmental Information Disclosure By Listed Companies In The Chemical Industry

In November 2020,President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of “Promoting green development and promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature.”Sustainable development is an inevitable path,but the environmental problem is affecting the enterprise sustainable development ability at the same time also is affecting the enterprise development prospect.Corporate Environmental Information Disclosure,as an important means for enterprises to open their environmental behavior and influence to the outside world,can make the public know more about the green development of enterprises.Chemical industry is the pillar industry of our national economy,but also an important source of environmental pollution,should assume more responsibilities and obligations.Therefore,the environmental information disclosure of its analysis and research is of great practical significance.This paper is based on stakeholder theory,sustainable development theory and legitimacy theory,using the methods of literature research,case analysis and Content analysis.Based on the analysis of the disclosure situation of the chemical industry in the heavy pollution industry,this paper selects huifeng company as the specific research object,and through the study of the information disclosed by Huifeng Company in recent years,based on the situation of punishment for environmental problems and environmental information disclosure,as well as the reaction of environmental stakeholders and the response of the company after the incident,this paper analyzes the problems existing in its environmental information disclosure,the purpose is to probe into the causes of the problems from the inside and outside of the enterprise,and put forward relevant suggestions and opinions.Hope to help enterprises to improve their awareness of environmental information disclosure,improve the formulation of relevant policies and supervision,to take the long-term sustainable development path.It is found that the situation of environmental information disclosure in China's chemical industry is not optimistic,but the trend is good,and there are common problems.According to the statistics of environmental information disclosure of chemical industry from 2015 to 2019,it is found that the level of environmental information disclosure of chemical industry is low in the past five years,but the overall quality is improving year by year.The common problem of environmental information disclosure among enterprises is that environmental information is usually disclosed in the form of annual report,and there are more qualitative and positive information in environmental information disclosure,but the quantitative information and the negative information are less,the disclosure content can not reflect the substantive content completely,the disclosure format is not standard,the environmental information disclosure method and the content of the non-key pollutant discharge enterprise can choose a wide range,and the disclosure randomness is strong.In addition to the above-mentioned problems,as the case study object,there are also some problems,such as low supervision,low cost of violation,inconsistent disclosure and scattered content.In this regard,this paper puts forward suggestions from three aspects:(1)strengthen supervision and joint efforts of relevant regulatory departments;(2)increase the cost of environmental violations,multi-incentive measures;(3)unify the ways of environmental information disclosure and optimize the contents of environmental information disclosure.
