| In order to improve the interfacial bonding properties of carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic polyether ether ketone resin composites,the self-made polyether ketone emulsion sizing agent and polyether ether ketone emulsion sizing agent added with graphene oxide were used to modify the surface of carbon fibers.The properties of sizing agent and the effect of sizing agent modification on the properties of carbon fiber and Carbon Fiber Reinforced PEEK composite were studied.In this paper,polyether ether ketone powder was used as raw material to compounded PEEK emulsion sizing agent with self made dispersions.The surface tension,viscosity and stability of the emulsion were analyzed.The results show that the stability of PEEK emulsion sizing agent is good.When the emulsion concentration is2%,the surface tension of the emulsion is minimum 29.2 m N.m-1,which has excellent surface activity.When the sizing agent is 6 mg/g,the size of the carbon fiber surface is dense and homogeneous.The oxygen content on the surface of carbon fiber is 5.57%higher than that of original carbon fiber,and the tensile strength of the carbon fiber is increased by 23.7%.After sizing,the bulk structure of carbon fiber does not change,and the degree of disorder on the surface of carbon fiber increases after sizing.Graphene oxide was evenly dispersed into PEEK emulsion sizing agent,and PEEK/GO composite emulsion sizing agent was prepared.Sizing of carbon fibers was carried out to study the effect of the amount of graphene oxide on the properties of carbon fibers.The results showed that when the amount of graphene oxide was 0.05%,the tensile strength of the sizing modified carbon fiber increased by 29.26%compared with the unmodified carbon fiber,and the content of oxygen on the surface of carbon fiber is 10.31%higher than that of original carbon fiber.The carbon fiber modified by PEEK/GO composite emulsion sizing agent had good surface activity.Finally,the thermoplastic composites made of carbon fiber and polyether ether ketone resin before and after sizing were modified to study the effect of emulsion sizing agent on the mechanical properties of thermoplastic composites.The results showed that the tensile strength,flexural strength and interlaminar shear strength of the composites modified by PEEK emulsion sizing agent increased by 58.37%,37.01%and 47.53%respectively than those of the unmodified carbon fibers.The tensile strength,flexural strength and interlaminar shear strength of the composites modified by PEEK/GO composite emulsion sizing agent were more than those of the unfilled carbon fibers.The results show that the mechanical properties of carbon fiber are improved after sizing.The results of dynamic mechanical analysis show that the storage modulus of carbon fiber composites modified with sizing agent is higher than that of carbon fiber composites without sizing modification,and the loss factor tanΓis smaller,which is consistent with the test results of interlaminar shear strength,which indicates that the interfacial bonding properties of carbon fiber composites modified by peek sizing agent are improved. |
