The high development of modern media technology has brought a large number of film and television works,which have had a wide impact on the life of the public.In these film and television works,historical works are very attractive because of their unique past-representation narrative methods,and they have become important educational resources for the transmission of knowledge in the field of education.Film and television works contain the producer’s personal values and worldview,and have a certain artistic creativity.Therefore,when using film and television works for history education in middle school history teaching,we should not only pay attention to their "historical data" value,but also pay attention to their limitations,so as to help young people correctly Look at the historical viewpoints conveyed by historical film and television resources.This thesis first studies two cases in Oregon and New Mexico in the United States that use historical film and television work in their middle school history teaching,and then summarize the characteristics of this kind of teaching method and reflect on the existing problems.The thesis is structured as follows.In chapter 1,we first elaborate on the origin of the research.Secondly,on the basis of research work at home and abroad,we propose a novel research topic.Note that,the first chapter gives the definition of related concepts,mainly describing the basic connotation of historical film and television resources and claiming its basic functions.Chapter 2 takes an overview of the use of historical film and television resources in American middle school history classrooms.Chapter 3 presents the case analysis,including background,teaching overview,analysis and evaluation.We respectively study the teaching practice of two senior history teachers in Oregon and New Mexico in the United States using historical film and television resources in the classroom.Chapter 4 is the conclusion.We summarize and reflect on the characteristics and problems of using historical film and television resources in the United States in middle school history teaching.The essence of history education is to educate people,and the teaching of historical film and television resources is one of the media to achieve this goal.Through the research,the author deeply feels that the responsibility and mission of middle school history teachers is great.The important goal of using historical film and television resources for teaching is to cultivate students’ historical empathy,to prompt them to think about the relationship between the past and the present,and to be able to critically understand the media’s Historiographical value,improve the ability of historical interpretation in the learning process.
