Abstract/Summary:
With the expansion of college enrollment,the number of college graduates in China is increasing year by year,resulting in the problem of difficult employment of college graduates.In addition,influenced by COVID-19 in recent two years,the employment of university graduates is much more difficult.Exploring the employment of college students is not only in line with the strategic requirements of giving priority to employment,but also in line with the development needs of people’s livelihood.The market and other external environment affect the employment situation,and the employment expectation,as an internal factor,reveals the employment expectation of college students.However,the employment expectation of college students is affected not only by the market environment and human capital,but also by family factors.Based on this,this study takes the family socio-economic status as the background perspective to explore whether the family socio-economic status has a significant impact on College Students’ employment expectations and what impact it has.Based on social stratification theory and social capital theory,this study combs the literature related to family socio-economic status and college students’ employment expectations,and puts forward research hypotheses.The data is selected from the "2019 undergraduate database" in the "National Undergraduate Learning Survey Database"(NCSS)As the sample source of quantitative analysis,this paper describes and analyzes the current situation of family socio-economic status and college students’ employment expectation;Multiple logistic regression model and multiple linear regression model are used to analyze the significance of the impact of family socio-economic status on College Students’ employment expectation;Using semi-structured interviews to explore how family socio-economic status affects college students’ employment expectations and how it affects them.Through statistical analysis,it is found that family socio-economic status has a significant impact on College Students’ employment expectation.Combined with semi-structured interviews,the following conclusions are drawn: there are differences in employment expectations under the background of College Students’ individual characteristics;Family socio-economic status affects college students’ employment expectation;College Students’ employment expectations are not "high".In view of the above research conclusions,this study puts forward countermeasures from three aspects: encouraging college students to actively start a business and broaden employment channels;Disadvantaged college students should improve their employability and make up for the lack of family capital;Countermeasures and suggestions to provide employment guidance services for vulnerable college students...
