| Social exclusion refers to the social phenomenon and interaction process in which an individual’s needs for belonging and relationship are obstructed due to rejection and exclusion by others or groups.A series of negative emotions and negative behavior problems appear in individuals who suffer from social exclusion, and phubbing becomes one of the possible consequences of social exclusion.phubbing is a common phenomenon in the current society. It refers to the behavior of individuals focusing on using smart phones while neglecting people or things around them in social occasions.Phubbing will reduce the happiness of interpersonal partners, and then affect interpersonal intimacy. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to understand the mechanism of phubbing. This study hypothesized that alienation played a mediating role in the influence of social exclusion on phubbing, and self-control played a moderating role in the relationship between alienation and phubbing, and proposed a moderated mediation model hypothesis. In this study,512 college students were measured by College Students’ Social Exclusion Scale,General Alienation Scale,Self-Control Scale and Generic Scale of Phubbing. The results show that:1.There are significant gender differences in phubbing and self-control of college students, and the scores of male college students are significantly lower than that of female college students. This shows that compared with boys, girls have more phubbing and lower self-control.There is a significant difference in the phubbing of college students in the aspect of whether they are only children, and the score of only children is lower than that of the non-only-child,indicating that the non-only-child has more phubbing than the only-child.2.Social exclusion of college students is positively correlated with sense of alienation and phubbing, indicating that the more social exclusion college students suffer, the stronger sense of alienation they experience, and the more likely they are to appear phubbing.3.The sense of alienation of college students is positively correlated with phubbing, indicating that the stronger the sense of alienation of college students, the more likely they are to appear phubbing. There is a negative correlation between self-control and sense of alienation. This suggests that the higher the self-control of college students, the lower the sense of alienation they experience, and the less phubbing they have.4.The sense of alienation plays a significant mediating role between social exclusion and phubbing, indicating that the more social exclusion college students suffer, the stronger the sense of alienation they experience, and the more likely they are to appear phubbing.5.This study found that self-control has a moderating effect on alienation and phubbing of college students. When self-control was low, alienation could positively predict phubbing behavior. However, when self-control is high, the predictive effect of individual alienation on phubbing is significantly reduced. |
