| College students ’participation in voluntary service is of great significance to the implementation of the fundamental task of moral education in colleges and universities,and also plays a positive role in promoting college students’ sense of social responsibility,individual sense of achievement and mental health.Among the many factors that affect the voluntary service,the voluntary service motivation is a key factor,and how to improve the voluntary service motivation of college students is a problem worth studying.Studies have shown that awe can promote prosocial behavior,and inducing awe can encourage individuals to show more helping behaviors.As a type of prosocial behavior,will awe affect voluntary motivation and how?This is one of the questions to explore in this study.Secondly,can stimulating the awe of college students improve the motivation of volunteer?This is the second concern of the present study.Therefore,this study will try to explore the influencing factors and internal mechanisms to improve the motivation of voluntary service of college students through questionnaire survey and experimental method,as well as the ways to more easily stimulate the awe of college students,so as to provide theoretical awe for promoting college students to actively participate in voluntary service.This study is divided into two parts: study 1 used online questionnaire,for 1796 college students issued "Volunteer Functions Inventory","Dispositional Positive Emotion Scales","Connectedness to Nature Scale" and social demographic questionnaire,effective questionnaire a total of 1563(87%),including 435 volunteers,occasionally attend 803 people,almost not attend 325 people.After recovering the questionnaire,SPSS25 and Mplus7.4 were used to organize and analyze the data to test the relationship between awe,connectedness to nature and voluntary service motivation;Study 2 used an experimental paradigm,where participants received the Saroglou video-induced experimental paradigm and the recall writing experimental paradigm after completing the Dispositional Positive Emotion Scales and the sociodemographic questionnaire.Among them,61 people received the Saroglou video-induced experiment paradigm(34 people in awe group,27 people in control group),and 95 people received the recall writing experiment paradigm(51 people in awe group and44 people in control group).After the experiment,all participants filled out the “State awe scale” and the “Volunteer Functions Inventory”.Through SPSS and analysis of the data,to verify whether the two experimental paradigms can induce the awe and awe of college students can improve their motivation of voluntary service.The study results show that the following:(1)In the voluntary service activities,27.83% of college students reported participation regularly,51.37% reported participation occasionally,and 20.79% reported almost no participation;(2)College students who often participate in voluntary service activities have significantly higher dispositional awe,connectedness to nature and voluntary service motivation than those who occasionally participate in and hardly participate in voluntary service activities;(3)Dispositional awe,connectedness to nature and voluntary service motivation were significantly bilateral and positively correlated;(4)Connectedness to nature plays a partial intermediary role in the influence of dispositional awe on voluntary motivation,that is to say,46.19% of the influence of dispositional awe on voluntary motivation is played by connectedness to nature;(5)Fear induced video can significantly induce awe(t=16.09,p <0.001),awe induced recall writing can induce awe more than neutral emotion recall writing(t=8.75,p <0.001),indicating that awe induced video paradigm and recall writing paradigm can effectively induce the awe of college students;(6)College students who received awe video and memory writing had a higher level of motivation to participate in volunteering than those who received neutral video and memory writing(t video group =21.23,p <0.001;t writing group =5.43,p <0.001);(7)Among the three different types of voluntary service,the voluntary service motivation of the awe group was significantly higher than that of the control group;The empirical study as a whole can draw the following conclusions:(1)There is a positive relationship between trait awe and natural connection and volunteer motivation,that is,individuals who are easy to feel awe in life will show higher levels of natural connection and volunteer motivation,and natural connection plays a partial intermediary role between trait awe and volunteer motivation;(2)Both video task experiment and writing memory can induce the awe of college students,and induce the awe of individuals will also show a higher motivation of volunteer service,that is,state awe improves the motivation of individual volunteer service;(3)The three different types of volunteer service have different in characteristic awe,natural connection and volunteer service motivation.They often participate in volunteer service>occasionally volunteer service> hardly participate in volunteer service. |
