| Social networking sites are indispensable in the modern information society.Long-term exposure to social networking sites full of sexually objectified information makes women view their bodies as objects to observe and observe them,resulting in self-objectification,and self-objectification makes women feel There is constant monitoring of one’s appearance,resulting in appearance anxiety.Appearance anxiety is common among female college students,and their worries about whether they meet social aesthetic standards will not only affect their physical and mental health,but also reduce their quality of life and subjective well-being.Therefore,exploring the relationship and influencing factors of female college students’ passive social networking site use and appearance anxiety is of great significance for maintaining female college students’ physical and mental health.900 female college students were surveyed by using the Facebook Surveillance Usage Scale(SUS),Self-Objectification Questionnaire(SOQ),Social Appearance Anxiety Scale(SAAS)and Five-factor Mindfulness Scale(FFMQ).To investigate the mediating effect of self-objectification on passive SNS use and appearance anxiety,and the moderating effect of mindfulness level.The results show that:(1)The self-objectification level of female liberal arts college students is significantly higher than that of science subjects;(2)The use of passive social networking sites in female college students has a significant positive correlation with the level of self-objectification,and a significant positive correlation with their appearance anxiety;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between self-objectification and appearance anxiety level of female college students,and self-objectification plays a partial mediating role between female college students’ passive social networking site use and appearance anxiety;(4)The level of mindfulness has a moderating effect between passive social networking site use and appearance anxiety in female college students,and it is a negative moderator;the level of mindfulness has a moderating effect between self-objectification and appearance anxiety,and it is a negative moderator;(5)Female college students’ passive social networking site use,self-objectification,mindfulness level and appearance anxiety constituted a moderated mediation model. |
