Since the concept of "institutional repositories" was brought up,the institutional repositories have been developed for twenty years.In this development process,both domestic and foreign institutional repositories have experienced periods of rapid development and periods of twists and turns.However,in general,the development of domestic institutional repositories lags behind those of foreign countries,but they fumble along.Therefore,there are both successes and shortcomings.In the past,the institutional repositories mainly simply included and displayed the research results of scholars,so there were many shortcomings such as limited service functions,low utilization,and insufficient interactivity.However,with the progress of The Times and the renewal of ideas,users have a deeper demand for the institutional repositories.They need richer and more diverse academic resources,real-time academic information,and subject evaluation and subject construction planning based on subject data.Then the institutional repository is based on huge subject information resources can provide more comprehensive,diverse and in-depth subject services for institutional members and users.In recent years,with the deepening of practice and research,domestic university institutional repositories are also constantly seeking progress and development.Especially based on today’s “double first-class” construction background,this article aims to explore and think about the direction of the further development of the institutional repository of universities from the perspective of subject services.In the research process of this article,the literature research method,network investigation method and case analysis method are mainly used.First,the literature research method is used to analyze the research status of domestic and foreign university institutional repositories,and then the network investigation method is used to survey statistics and analyze the current situation of the construction of institutional repositories in domestic universities and colleges for subject-oriented services,and then use case analysis to analyze and comment on outstanding typical cases of institutional repositories for subject-oriented services.At last,in view of the above research results,analyze the problems arising from the current development of institutional repositories in universities in China,and then put forward suggestions for improvement.This article conducts in-depth research on domestic institutional repositories from three aspects: subject information organization,subject information push,and subject information analysis.The research content includes: firstly,based on the existing institutional repository theory,combined with the theoretical content of subject services,propose a conceptual framework for subject-oriented services to enrich the service items of the institutional repository of universities and clarify its advantages.Secondly,investigate and research the institutional repositories of domestic double-class universities and analyze their development levels from multiple perspectives.Thirdly try to apply the theory and practical experience of subject services to the construction and research of university institutional repositories to provide more directions for its development.The focus of this research lies in the deep integration of subject services and institutional repositories,both in theory and in practice,but there are still shortcomings,mainly in the research method,focusing on qualitative research.Therefore,the application effect of the subject-oriented-service construction of the institutional repositories of China has yet to be further studied,demonstrated and tested in practice.
