| Corporate charitable donation is an important manifestation of corporate social responsibility.It plays an important role in promoting social equity and improving social welfare,so it has been widely concerned by the academic circle and the society.At present,enterprises have become the main force of charitable donation in China,but different enterprises have different attitude and levels towards charitable donation.In order to improve the overall level of corporate charitable donation and develop the important effect of enterprises in philanthropy,it is particularly necessary to explore the factors of corporate philanthropy.On the other hand,with the rise of the women’s movement in the 1970 s,the social and economic status of women has been improved,gradually playing an important role in the senior management team of enterprises.The characteristics of women such as risk aversion,good interpersonal communication,attention to social responsibility are quite different from those of male executives,which provides a new perspective for the strategic development of enterprises.Therefore,academic circle pays much attention to the influence of female executives’ characteristics on various affairs of enterprises.Based on the above this paper examines the influence of female executives on corporate charitable donation from the perspective of female executives’ caring tendency and social tendency.This paper first reviews the research in related fields,then puts forward the research problems and hypotheses,and finally uses the quantitative research method to test the hypotheses and draw a conclusion.This paper selects Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2014 to 2018 as research samples,and A total of 6755 pieces of data are used after missing values are removed.The results show that :(1)the proportion of female executives is significantly positively correlated with the level of corporate charitable giving;(2)The degree of gender equality in the region where the enterprise is located moderates the positive correlation between female executives and corporate charitable donations.The above results indicate that female executives have a positive impact on corporate charitable giving,but this positive impact does not always exist,and it is different in different social situations.When the gender equality level of female executives is low,female executives have no substantial effect on corporate charitable giving.The possible reason behind this is that the lower degree of gender equality hinders the autonomy of female executives to participate in corporate decision-making.This paper further proves the positive effect of female executives on corporate charitable giving,and pays attention to the differences in the influence of female executives on corporate charitable giving in different social situations,which,to some extent,enriches the relevant researches in the field of corporate charitable giving and female executives.On a practical level,this has implications for governments,enterprises and women.The government can give more publicity and guidance to enterprises’ philanthropic donation and gender equality concepts,so as to form a better and more harmonious social atmosphere.Companies can also offer opportunities to women with a more open attitude,actively promote gender diversity in senior management teams,and respect the rights of female executives to express their ideas and participate in company decisions.Women also need to consciously improve internal drive and self-consciousness,resolve the contradiction between external environment and internal concept,combine their own characteristics and advantages,and actively strive for and grasp the initiative and voice in the work. |
