| Intelligent Tutoring Systems(ITS)support learners’ personalized learning and provide adaptive guidance and feedback.ITS can create an open and autonomous learning environment.However,learners are easy to get lost in the absence of face-to-face guidance.Learners are required to learn to recognize subject,affairs and skills in a higher level in the era of knowledge economy.Metacognition is the cognition of cognition which plays an indispensable and dominant role in the process of learning.Thus,this research aims to improve learners’ metacognitive awareness and level by providing adaptive metacognitive feedback in the ITS.Firstly,this research reviewed the study status of ITS,metacognition and feedback at home and abroad,defined the core concepts and sorted out the theoretical basis through literature research.Secondly,this thesis expounded the metacognitive feedback content combining the three components of metacognition.It analyzed the metacognitive feedback mechanism,and constructed the metacognitive feedback model based on the system structure of the ITS.Thirdly,the research designed cases based on ninth grade students’ grammar learning of tense through analyzing learners,learning content and English learning process in the ITS.The tutor interface and engine with specific metacognition feedback has been created with the help of CTAT(Cognitive Tutor Authoring Tools).Finally,33 ninth grade students were divided into the experimental group and control group to carry out experimental research through questionnaire and interview.The application effect of metacognitive feedback in the ITS has been certified and the conclusions are as follows: ITS with metacognitive feedback can improve learners’ overall level of metacognition;ITS with metacognitive feedback can enrich learners’ metacognitive knowledge and improve their metacognitive monitoring ability;ITS with metacognitive feedback has no significant influence on learners’ metacognitive experience and academic performance.It can be seen that the metacognitive feedback in the ITS can influence the metacognition of learners,provide a new perspective for metacognitive intervention,and bring great convenience and usability to education and teaching. |
