Group Work Intervention In Alleviating Parenting Stress Of Mothers With Autistic Children

There are more than 10 million autistic people in China,and parents of autistic people need to shoulder the great responsibility of caring for them.Due to the imperfect social security system and the low degree of social cognition of autism,there is little attention and research on parents of autistic patients.Parenting pressure is a problem that individuals face when they play the role of parent.But parents of autistic children are more stressed than parents of typically developing children.Most of the main caregivers of autistic children in China are mothers of autistic children,who often sacrifice their own life and work to take care of their children at home full-time.Longterm contact between them and their children makes their parental pressure greater.Such excessive parental pressure will not only bring great harm to the children with autism and their families.In this paper,6 mothers of autistic children in Community C were taken as the main service objects,and the basic information of the service objects was obtained by using semi-structured interview method,questionnaire survey method and participatory observation method.Events such as a child’s diagnosis of autism and the slow recovery of autism may also contribute to their irrational beliefs.Social workers combine narrative therapy theory,rational emotional therapy theory and social support theory to help service objects correct irrational beliefs,separate problems in life from individuals,write new life stories,and combine group activities to help service objects,finally achieve the purpose of alleviating parental pressure.In this group,the clients received emotional support,the irrational beliefs of the group members were corrected,and they learned to actively deal with their negative emotions.Social workers help group members rebuild their social support networks and learn specific techniques to reduce their own stress.This service evaluates the effect of the intervention of this group by means of satisfaction survey and pre-and post-test.The work of this group has achieved good results in alleviating parental pressure of mothers of autistic children,and the parental pressure of the client has been alleviated.
