| Jerome Bruner is a great American psychologist and educationist. He devoted his life to the field of pedagogy and psychology and published many influential works. His academic focus experienced a great transformation in the 1970 s,from the well-known study of structuralism to the comprehensive study of society, culture, education and psychology. He put education and psychological problems into context of human society and culture, and narrative was an important part of it which also got Bruner’s attention. This paper takes narrative as a theme, introducing Bruner’s narrative view under the influence of postmodernism, and sorts out the relationship between narrative and self, education and culture in his theory. The research is divided into the following chapters:The first chapter introduces philosophical background of Bruner’s academic thought transformation and the process of his academic research transformation in the change of philosophy thoughts. The second chapter introduces the relationship between narrative and self.In this chapter, the author briefly introduces the development of narrative, and the past understanding of the concept of "self" in the western world, and then combs Bruner’s self-concept.He thinks that the individual’s understanding of self is not a mechanical discovery and understanding, but a process of construction and generation. The essence of self is a narrative self constructed through narrative. The third chapter mainly introduces the relationship between narrative and teaching, and analyzes the relationship between narrative and science knowledge and teaching of humanistic knowledge.Bruner criticized the practice of "lying in the remains of science" to instill knowledge into students. He thinks that scientific knowledge is also narrative in nature. The school should use narrative method to realize the teaching of scientific knowledge in order to achieve better learning effect. In addition,Bruner believes that humanistic knowledge is an indispensable part of the knowledge structure of students, and it needs to be paid great attention to improve students’ understanding of culture,so as to make them enter the society more smoothly and solve more difficult social problems. The fourth chapter mainly introduces the relationship between narrative and culture.Bruner proposes that narrative is a hard currency of culture, and a bridge and tool for people to communicate, understand and form a community. He has clarified the mechanism and process of how children enter culture through learning language and then promoting cultural understanding among people. The summary part discusses the inspiration. In my opinion, although narrative thinking and its constructivism behind it plays an important role in education and teaching,Bruner’s past structuralism thought is still worthy of attention. In the practice of education and teaching,we need to take a rational attitude towards structuralism and constructivism. In addition,Bruner’s "post cognitive" inspired me to think about metacognitive ability in learning.I think that in daily teaching activities,we need to consciously cultivate students’ metacognitive ability in order to improve learning efficiency. |
