After more than 40 years of China’s social economy, the current situation of social class mobility in China has also aroused heated attention and discussed from all walks of life.Due to the differences in the choice of influencing factors, there is no definition of the relationship between education and social mobility. From the Human capital theory,Screening Hypothesis and Status Acquisition theory, higher education promotes the mobility of social strata and makes people move from the bottom of society to the upper middle class. However, with the popularization of higher education, the social mobility function of higher education is gradually weakening, which cannot help but arouse people’s conjecture: Does higher education cause the solidification of social strata? In view of this, this paper hopes to study the relationship between higher education and social mobility by using “Probit” model.Firstly,it combs the development process of higher education at home and abroad and many educational reforms in China.Secondly,it integrates the research status and development trend of social strata and social mobility. Finally,it uses quantitative analysis to test the contribution rate of higher education to the formation of social stratification, and explores the evolution trend of higher education affected by the continuous advancement of modernization from the perspective of regionalization.According to the data of two years in the database, the current situation and development trend of social stratum mobility in China are concluded, and the causes and improvement methods are summarized. After research, this paper draws the following conclusions:1.The effect of higher education on the mobility of individual social strata is significant. There is a positive correlation between higher education and personal social status, but its effect is related to regional differences.Compared with the western region, the contribution rate of higher education to social class mobility in eastern and central China is better than that in Western China.2.China’s social strata show a trend of solidification, and the social mobility function of higher education is weakened.Higher education has always been regarded as a powerful tool for social mobility, but people tend to ignore that social stratification may also be related to family background.3.The influence of higher education on social mobility increases with the increase of age. This also confirms the reason why the influence of the family’s past class on the individual social stratum is enhanced.Based on the above empirical conclusions, this paper puts forward the following suggestions from the three levels of the state, higher education institutions and enterprises.Firstly, from the national level, according to the development plan of the national economy and the operation law of the market economy,we should use scientific methods to make statistics and forecast on the total demand and structure of the labor market for university graduates.Secondly, from the perspective of colleges and universities, first of all,on the premise of ensuring the total amount of education, colleges and universities need to timely adjust the relevant professional structure according to the changes in the labor market demand,so as to better meet the actual market demand.Thirdly, from the enterprise level, the labor market should standardize the employment process of college students, guide enterprises and institutions to establish a scientific and standardized employment mechanism.
