Rejection sensitivity is an individual’s anxious expectation of rejection,and the trend of overreacting to rejection or uncertain situations.This tendency will influence interpersonal communication and cause interpersonal distress in the way of self-inspection prediction.Studies have shown that individuals with high rejection sensitivity may have stronger pain when they encounter rejection,and they often lack the skills of emotion regulation,which leads to more interpersonal troubles.Junior high school students are in the puberty stage of unbalanced physical and psychological development.They pay too much attention to themselves and care about other people’s evaluation and views on themselves.This kind of excessive attention to themselves will make them often feel depressed,lonely,vulnerable to blows,and very unstable inside.The particularity of the period determines that junior high school students are easy to form a highly sensitive psychology to rejection,and will face more emotional and interpersonal problems.The purpose of this study is to understand the present situation of junior high school students’ rejection sensitivity,emotional adjustment strategies and interpersonal problems,explore the relationship among them,and try to reduce rejection sensitivity through group assistance intervention to improve students’ use of emotional adjustment strategies and interpersonal problems.This study is divided into two sub-studies:Study 1,800 questionnaires were distributed to students from two junior high schools in Hubei Province.Rejection Sensitivity Scale,Emotional Adjustment Strategy Scale and Interpersonal Relationship Comprehensive Diagnosis Scale were used to measure individual rejection sensitivity level,frequency of using emotional adjustment strategies(cognitive reappraisal,expression inhibition)and interpersonal relationship distress,and to explore the relationship between rejection sensitivity,emotional adjustment strategy and interpersonal relationship distress In the second study,by means of group psychological counseling practice,the effectiveness of group intervention oriented to adjust the rejection sensitivity level of middle school students in improving interpersonal problems and the use of emotional adjustment strategies of middle school students was discussed.The findings are as follows:1.There are significant differences in some demographic variables(gender,only child,place of origin,class cadre and grade)in junior high school students’ rejection sensitivity,emotion regulation strategy and interpersonal relationship disturbance.2.Rejection sensitivity,emotion regulation strategies and interpersonal distress are related.3.Both expression inhibition strategy and re-evaluation strategy play a partial mediating role between interpersonal disturbance and rejection sensitivity4.The group intervention program can significantly reduce the rejection sensitivity level of junior high school students,thus improving interpersonal problems and the use of emotion regulation strategies.
