Red culture is the spiritual quality and cultural form formed by the Chinese people in the historical process of revolution,construction and reform under the leadership of the Communist Party of China to achieve national independence,national prosperity and people’s happiness.It is the spiritual code for our Party to carry forward our past achievements and forge ahead.Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC,the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has attached great importance to the inheritance and promotion of the red culture,with special emphasis on the study and education of Party history.General Secretary Xi Jinping has made many visits to old revolutionary base areas and revolutionary holy places,repeatedly stressing the need to make good use of the red resources,carry forward the red tradition,pass on the red gene and pass on the red rivers and mountains from generation to generation.Red culture has a unique educational function and is a high-quality educational resource for ideological and political work in colleges and universities.It has important value in strengthening ideals and beliefs,resisting wrong thoughts,cultivating patriotic feelings,cultivating socialist core values,and improving the ideological and moral quality of college students.Colleges and universities shoulder the historical mission of cultivating socialist builders and successors who develop morally,intellectually,physically,aesthetically and labouredly.To this end,we should fully tap the resources of red culture and make reasonable use of red culture to cultivate people.The main body of this paper is studied in four parts.The first part elaborates red culture and its related theories.This paper clarifies the concept and characteristics of red culture,and focuses on the connotation,function and times value of red culture education in colleges and universities in the new era,so as to lay a theoretical foundation for further research.The second part investigates and studies the status quo of red culture education in universities in Wuhan area.Through the investigation and analysis,it can be seen that the cultivation of red culture in colleges and universities has achieved considerable results,and the awareness and sense of identity of college students on red culture have been improved.The third part analyzes the problems and causes of red culture education in colleges and universities.It can be found that there are some problems,such as insufficient research and development of red culture theory,insufficient content publicity,imperfect training positions,imperfect application mechanism and insufficient understanding of red culture among college students.Further investigation shows that the complex and diversified social and cultural environment,the lack of attention to red culture education in some universities,the weak concept of red culture education in families,and the physical and mental characteristics of college students are the important influencing factors.The fourth part,based on the practical investigation results and current situation analysis,explores the basic principles and practical paths of red culture education in colleges and universities.It includes the combination principle of dominance and subjectivity,the combination principle of indoctrination and penetration,the combination principle of theory and practice,the combination principle of diversity and pertinence,and puts forward the optimization path from the four aspects of content research and development,discourse transformation,position expansion and system construction.Based on the historical position of the new era,this paper takes the red culture education in colleges and universities in Wuhan as the research object,explores the current situation of the red culture education in the new era through the empirical research method of questionnaire survey,and puts forward the optimization path and improvement strategy,in order to provide certain reference for deepening the red culture education in colleges and universities.
