At the 2014 National Conference on Studying Abroad in China,General Secretary Xi Jinping gave an important instruction: Under the new situation,the work of studying abroad must adapt to the general development trend of the country and the overall work situation,cultivate more outstanding talents,and strive to create a new situation for studying abroad.Premier Li Keqiang pointed out that it is necessary to actively promote the work of studying abroad to a new level with a global vision and reform and innovation measures,attract talents from all over the world to serve the overall situation of national construction,and relevant parties must further improve the management services for studying in China and enhance the exchanges and friendship between people from all over the world.With the smooth progress of the "Belt and Road" initiative,China has become increasingly close to other countries in the world,and China’s international education has also developed vigorously.Chinese universities have attracted students from more countries to study and exchange.Southeast Asia is the main trade cooperation area for the construction of the “Belt and Road”,and its international students in China are an important part of the international students in Chinese universities.Chinese universities have always been committed to cultivating foreign students who are pro-China,friendly to China,and love China,and attach importance to their ideological and moral education.Strengthening the ideological and moral education of overseas students from Southeast Asia is not only conducive to improving their overall quality and creating a harmonious campus atmosphere,but also conducive to promoting the connotative development of Chinese student education and the spread of Chinese culture.This article explains from the following four parts: The first part elaborates on the connotation and characteristics of the ideological and moral education for overseas students from Southeast Asia,combs the connotation of the ideological and moral education for overseas students in China,and then analyzes the content and characteristics of the ideological and moral education for overseas students from Southeast Asia.The second part clarifies the necessity of ideological and moral education for international students from Southeast Asia.It promotes the connotative development of higher education through the three aspects of improving the overall quality of international students in China,building a harmonious campus,and ensuring the sustainable development of Chinese students in China.Spread and promote the "Belt and Road" cooperation to showcase the international exchanges of Chinese culture.The third part uses Shanghai International Studies University as an example to analyze the current situation of Chinese universities’ promotion of ideological and moral education for overseas students from Southeast Asia.Through questionnaires and interviews,we can understand the current ideological and moral status of Southeast Asian students in my country,and analyze the current experience and shortcomings of Chinese universities in the ideological and moral education of Southeast Asian students in China.The fourth part proposes countermeasures to strengthen the ideological and moral education of overseas students from Southeast Asia.It is suggested that Chinese universities should continue to deepen the education of Chinese culture and China’s national conditions for overseas students from Southeast Asia,and improve the pertinence and influence of the ideological and moral education of overseas students from Southeast Asia.Improve the ideological and moral education work platform for international students from Southeast Asia to China.
