"Beautiful life" is an important concept in the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era.It shows people’s pursuit of a wealthy life,a quality life,a fair and just life and a self-fulfilling life.It also indicates the basic direction of China’s social development at the same time.As far as the Chinese textbook is concerned,its content shows a strong value orientation and carries the state-led values.Especially the protagonists in the text,which can play an important role in shaping students’ values and character development.Based on this,this study adopts content analysis method,and uses the "Ministry Edition" elementary school textbooks as the analysis text,and adopts the "Beautiful Life Concept Category" that proposed by the psychologist King as the analysis framework.From the six dimensions of happiness,meaning,money,endeavor,work accomplishment,and interpersonal satisfaction to analyze the main characters in the text in order to grasp the concept of the beautiful life conveyed by the textbook.It has been discovered that the elements of the beautiful life presented by"meaning" and "interpersonal satisfaction" have the highest ratio,then followed by happiness,endeavor and work achievement,and the "money" dimension has the lowest ratio through the shaping of the protagonist characters the "Ministry Edition" primary school Chinese textbooks.And it presents the supreme good of morals and positive concept of the beautiful life,which has a strong agreement with the new era’s demand for a better life.But at the same time,there are still some limitations in the construction of the concept of a beautiful life in the textbook.Which are reflected in the separation of the concept of money in the textbook from the real society,and the lack of education on the concept of life,as well as the lack of education on civic awareness.For this purpose,the further optimization of textbooks should strengthen the concepts of money,life and civic awareness education,and multi-level interpretation of textbooks,as well as add the study of core concepts.We should present to children the mainstream values that recognized by the country through the true and diverse life styles in textbooks.
