Middle school students are in the transition period from childhood to adolescence.Because of the second peak of their body development,those students’ shape,insides and their sexual cognition have taken an explosive turn.At the same time,however,psychological changes cannot keep up with physiological changes.On the consequences of which,frequent psychological problems in junior occur and that bring necessity and complexity to the Mental Health Education for Middle School Students.Although our country has been attaching great importance to Mental Health Education since 80’s,especially to the one for Middle School Students,there has not been a course in mental health education of sufficient scale.Together with the low level of implementation,the fact that mental health education in China started late and developed slowly attribute to this situation.Additionally,the quality gaps of mental health education between developed and underdeveloped areas are very substantial,which is hampering the development in underdeveloped areas.As a Middle School Mental Health Education Demonstration School in an underdeveloped area,Huangshi S Middle School’s development of mental health education has been a model for other fraternal school.It plays an important role in finding out the causes and proposing solutions to do researches into Huangshi S Middle School’s development of mental health education.And this will also promote the development of mental health education in Huangshi such an underdeveloped area.In this paper,fieldwork method,questionnaire method and interview method are combined to do the research from three aspects of school mental health education,psychological counseling,and psychological health education infiltration by the method of doing surveys towards students,teachers and leaders.As a result,Three broad areas of concerns were found which lie in the students’ cognition toward mental health education,the arrangements made by teachers and the operational line designs.And certainly,cures are advanced accordingly.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction which talks about the background,the significance of this research,some related concepts,a review of researches at home or abroad and research ideas or methods.The second part concentrates on the survey towards the mental health education in Huangshi S School.To compare the mental health statue of the students in two schools and to put forward constructive guidance or recommendations,investigations into both Huangshi S School and Huangshi X School were carried out.And through the questionnaire surveys of students and teachers in Huangshi S middle school,their awareness of mental health education and whether whether the teacher has interspersed in the course of education will be known.The third part is mainly talking about the advantages and disadvantages of Huangshi S School.It is obvious that Huangshi S School has made more achievements than other fraternal school.These achievements,what’s more,are mainly attributable to abundant hardware facilities,students’ preference for Mental Health Education and the orderly progress of psychological counseling.It is found,however,that there are still some problems lying in the courses,psychological counseling,and psychological health education infiltration.The fourth part is an analysis of the existing problems in Huangshi S School.As a result of the questionnaires and interviews,it is found that there are some problems lying in the cognition for mental health education,the application of the hardware facilities and the actual teaching sessions.The last part is about what countermeasures are put forward.There are three suggestions: to make sure the training for school personnel on lack of awareness;to establish the teaching model based on professional teachers and supplemented byoff-campus resources taking the advantage of the school’s geographic location;to increase in-school teaching materials and assessment and to increase school community-family education.
