Instructional design ability of teachers is the key ability that every elementary school Chinese teacher needs to develop,it is also an important embodiment of teachers’ professional quality,and it also affects the promotion and implementation of the new curriculum reform of basic education.The instructional design ability of teachers has a great realistic challenge in breaking through the traditional "teacher’s teaching" to "student’s learning".It has become a key issue for the development of education to train high quality primary school teachers to adapt to the development of the Times and improve their teaching design ability.The research is guided by theories of teaching process optimization and constructivist theories,and uses literature analysis,classroom observation,questionnaire survey and a combination of field interviews and theoretical and practical research is used to discuss the instructional design skills of primary language teachers and their improvement path research.Firstly,a conceptual definition of instructional design,instructional design competencies,and language teachers’ instructional design competencies based on the research was conducted,and the research analysis was conducted to understand the current status of the instructional design skills of frontline primary language teachers.Secondly,field interviews and classroom observations were used to identify four main problems of representative teaching sessions for primary language teachers,which are broad and vague teaching objectives,difficult to grasp content’s key points,easy to plan but difficult to implement for cooperative learning and one-sided as well as extensive for the design of the assessment.Thirdly,through the analysis of questionnaires,field interviews and learning from the results,the factors that affect the ability of primary language teachers to design their teaching including intrinsic motivation for the development of teachers’ instructional design skills,preservice college curriculum development,and post-service school curriculum training.On the basis of the above research results and in the light of actual teaching practice,we suggest the following paths for the development of primary language teachers’ teaching design skills.
