The process of modernization in China is getting faster and faster,which has promoted the pace of technological innovation,and science popularization has gradually been promoted to the national strategic position.President Xi Jinping stressed that science and technology innovation and science popularization should be one of two wings.Science popularization is equally important in the field of technological innovation.Science popularization talents are the core of science popularization career.With their internal advantages and external conditions,science and engineering postgraduates are potential high-end science popularization talents and are expected to become the main force of science popularization.In order to make clear the current situation of science and engineering graduate students’ participation in science popularization,this study makes an empirical research on the cognition and problems faced by science and engineering graduate students in the process of science popularization,in order to better guide and encourage science and engineering graduate students to participate in science popularization.Through reading and analyzing the research literature of scientists’ participation in science popularization and universities’ participation in science popularization,it is found that at present,Scientists’ participation in science popularization is low,the formalized phenomenon of science popularization in universities is serious,the talent team is unstable,and the lack of assessment and incentive mechanism is the main problem in the process of science popularization.However,The postgraduate group of science and engineering has received very little attention in the relevant research of the subject of science popularization.This research takes this as the starting point,and combines the three models of science communication and Shulman’s theory of subject teaching knowledge to make the questionnaire and interview outline for this research,then selects the science and Engineering Postgraduates of H University as the sample,and uses the method of questionnaire survey and interview to carry out this research.The results show that in the cognitive level,science and engineering postgraduates can correctly view the relationship between science and the public,and generally think that they should be the link between the two.They have a high degree of recognition of science popularization and participation in science popularization,and their cognition of the significance and elements of Science Popularization is mainly based on the public position,and their cognition is biased towards the public participation model.Science and engineering postgraduates say they are necessary and capable of participating in science popularization.At a practical level,postgraduates in science and engineering have insufficient understanding of science popularization and science popularization practices,and lack of time and energy,lack of corresponding evaluation mechanisms,and lack of science popularization skills are the main problems currently facing.At present,there is still a lack of encouragement and guidance for science and engineering postgraduates to participate in science popularization,resulting in the group’s lack of awareness and enthusiasm of science popularization.This study constructs a cognitive behavioral model of science and engineering graduate students’ participation in science popularization to explain the influence and regulation mechanism between cognition and behavior.At last,this study proposes that science popularization education for science and engineering graduate students should be strengthened,and we should put the participation in science popularization into the training and assessment mechanism of science and engineering postgraduates.The state,society,schools and other forces should provide system funds guarantee,broaden channels,science popularization skills training for science and engineering postgraduates,and strengthen the construction and management of science popularization team,etc.This study basically explores the current status of cognition and behavior of science and engineering graduate students participating in science popularization,and will provide certain reference value for future research on science and technology graduate students participating in science popularization.
