Formative assessment focuses on students and helps teachers to change the teaching strategies by evaluating students’ attitudes during the learning process and achievements.In foreign,formative assessment has been widely used in teaching and has been proved to be useful in promoting learning.Since the beginning of the 21 st century,China has introduced formative assessment policies and gradually implemented them.However,in higher education teaching,due to the traditional teaching idea and the shortage of teacher resource,the assessment methods which are generally used mainly focus on the measurement of learning results,and there is a certain gap between these methods and formative assessment.In this situation,this paper conducts research on the formative assessment method based on LMS(Learning Management System)data and class videos.The study consists of three parts:(1)Assessment parameter collection.A formative assessment parameter collection model is proposed.This model introduces classroom behavior analysis into the formative assessment.LMS interaction data and class videos are used by the model to obtain different parameters,which constitute the learning effect and engagement.(2)Assessment parameter screening.This paper collected real courses’ data and used the model to obtain the parameters.Through correlation analysis between the parameters and the summative assessment,excluding the parameters that do not have a significant correlation,and further use the T-test to analyze the differences in engagement questionnaires’ scores of the students with different engagement parameters,excluding parameters that do not have significant differences.After screening,the parameters include the correct answer rate,quick & correct answer rate,the perspective distance from the center of the platform,head-up time,duration of engagement behavior in class,and frequency of entertainment behavior.(3)Assessment weight and method verification.A weighted combination of different parameters is used to obtain formative assessment scores.Using computer network course data to verify the assessment method,the method can be used to feedback the student’s learning status.Using the assessment parameters as features to early identify the students who need help,and the results show that using the data from the first 5 times lessons can achieve a prediction accuracy of 92.7%.Comparing with the conversation analysis method,measurement test or using only LMS data for assessment,this method uses online and offline data to comprehensively assess students’ learning effect and engagement,and conducts quantitative analysis and verification of the parameters,and provides new ideas for the future study of assessment methods.
