Objective: At present,junior high school students’ health with the eye measurement is more inclined to the behavior,but neglects the psychological factor to the health with the eye function.Therefore,this study is devoted to constructing a new framework of junior high school students’ health literacy of eye from the perspectives of knowledge,cognition,attitude and behavior,and then compiles the health literacy of eye questionnaire for junior high school students,providing a measurement tool that meets the standards of psychometrics for subsequent related research,and providing direction and reference for junior high school students’ health eye education.Methods: Based on the theory of health psychology,this study selected students from the Optometry Clinic Center of an Eye Hospital in Jinan as interview subjects,and used behavioral event interview(BEI)in psychological research to explore the characteristics of eye literacy in junior high school students.Combining literature research and expert opinions to compile the items to form the prototype of the questionnaire.Secondly,junior high school students from Weifang,Dezhou,Weihai,Rizhao,Yantai,Shandong Province,and Menyuan Hui Autonomous County Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Qinghai Province were selected as research subjects for self-made questionnaire.This research had finally formed the official version of the health literacy of eye questionnaire for junior high school students through project analysis,exploratory factor analysis,reliability and validity analysis,and confirmatory factor analysis.A formal questionnaire was used as a measurement tool to conduct a preliminary study on the health literacy of eye of junior high school students.Results: The health literacy of eye questionnaire for junior high school students is composed of 34 items and 7 dimensions.The questionnaire has good reliability and the model fits well.The internal consistency coefficient is 0.893.The confirmatory factor analysis results are as follows: χ2/ df = 2.575,CFI = 0.917,IFI = 0.918,and TLI = 0.908,RMSEA = 0.043.Using this self-made questionnaire to survey 698 cases,the results show that junior high school students’ health literacy of eye is at a medium level,junior high school students scored the highest in the attitude towards myopia,but the lowest in the time spent using electronic products;the significant correlation between the junior high school students’ scores in the seven dimensions of the questionnaire reflects the correlation between the individual’s cognition,attitude,specific behavior and eye-using environment in healthy eyeusing;there is no significant difference in gender factors in the scores of the junior high school students’ health literacy of eye questionnaire;there is a significant difference in the total scores of the health literacy of eye questionnaire for junior high school students in the way of school;there is a significant difference in visual acuity in the scores of the junior high school students’ total health literacy of eye questionnaire;the two dimensions of active eye behavior and attitude towards myopia in health literacy of eye have a significant positive predictive effect on vision status.Conclusion: The health literacy of eye questionnaire for junior high school students is composed of 7 dimensions: bad eye habits,positive eye behavior,attitude towards myopia,eye environment,mastering myopia knowledge,eye health knowledge,and time of using electronic products.There are 34 questions in total,with good reliability and validity,clear structure,and can be used as an effective measurement tool.The results of this study can help to comprehensively understand the actual status and characteristics of healthy literacy of eye for students,and provide directions and references for junior high school students’ healthy eye education.At the same time,according to the evaluation results,students can be made aware of which dimensions of themselves healthy literacy of eye are inadequate,so that they can give guidance to students in a targeted manner to better prevent and control myopia.
