With the advancement of urbanization, the relationship between urban and rural is like a miniature bonsai, displaying a contest between tradition and modernity, the East and the West, among which the tiny individuals carry the projection of great historical and cultural upheavals in their destiny. As the elite and the backbone of national development, the individual transformation of undergraduates with rural HUKOU is directly related to the process fairness of higher education, and more profoundly affects the future direction of rural development. This paper focuses on the acculturation strategies of undergraduates with rural HUKOU.By discussing the survival patterns and specific choices of micro-individuals in the context of the times,we can understand the pains and challenges of social transformation.Firstly, based on the prototype category theory, focusing on the Word Association task of urban and rural college students, this paper analyzed 11052 words perceived by 1842 college students about "urban" and "rural".The study finds that "prosperity" and "poverty" have become the central meanings of urban and rural respectively;"human" can be seen in the rural, but they are eliminated in the urban, which the vocabulary about "human" is missing. In this way of thinking, the study draws on the“holding theory” proposed by the British psychologist Donald W.Winnicott,to reveal the unique holding power of rural culture in natural breeding, nourishment of things and nourishmentof human beings. It appeals toundergraduates with rural HUKOU to return torural culture on the basis of adapting to urban culture and choose integration strategies to pursue a more full and colorful life.Next, the study explores the relationship between social network and acculturation strategies through Multinomial Logistic regression analysis, and conducts in-depth interviews with undergraduates with rural HUKOU who adopt different acculturation strategies on the basis of four-stage sampling. The results show that the most frequently adopted acculturation strategies are integration, separation, assimilation and marginalization, and the proportion of integration strategy and separation strategy is positive and inverse U-shaped respectivelyin four years. The essence of the four kinds of acculturation strategies is the strategy of resistance, among which only the integration strategy is a kind of positive resistance. There is a clear communication gap between urban and rural college students, which makes the accumulation of social capital of undergraduates with rural HUKOU face greater challenges. On this basis, the positive mechanism of social capital(especially bridging social capital)on thebicultural identity integration is revealed through structural equation modeling. The study found that undergraduates with rural HUKOU need to enhance social capital in order to achieve a higher degree of "integration".Therefore,it is suggested that the society should excavate rural culture and open up spiritual space beyond modernity for people,so as to make rural culture have new vitality and make rural youth gain cultural self-confidence.Schools should build heterogeneous platforms, advocate pluralistic integration, encourage students to get out of comfort zone, establish more heterogeneous connections, and obtain richer and broader social relations.Undergraduates with rural HUKOU should adopt integration strategy to restore rural memory, achieve cultural awareness, actively participate in the connection between people, and strive in the larger world with the blessings of their homeland.
