| The purpose of this thesis is to explore the possibilities of women to advance to senior positions. This thesis is based on the fact that there are fewer female leaders than male leaders, both in the world and in BRICS.The aim of the dissertation is to find factors predicting a woman’s career and ways to increase the number of women in leadership positions. The theoretical part of the study consists of the following topics:what is meant by women’s leadership, women’s leadership in the global context and in the BRICS,why it is important to promote women’s leadership and what are the main factors affecting women’s careers.Information was collected by literature and previous research related to this topic. This research will be descriptive type.Accordingly, for realization and successful accomplishment of the study, data collected from different secondary sources will be recorded edited, organized, analyzed, interpreted and presented in relation to research questions. This is done both quantitatively and qualitatively by using descriptive statistical tools such as tables, figures, percentages, graphs and charts for data collected. The results of the study show that there are many direct and fundamental factors relating to the under-representation of women in leadership positions.Four levels of influencing factors were identified as social, organizational, cultural, and individual factors. The study of these levels has shown that traditional gender roles, organizational culture, women’s perception, and competence play a certain role in the development of women’s management career. It was believed that organizations have the most power because they make the immediate decision to promote women’s leadership through recruitment and career development proposals. It was also found that women’s opportunities to become leaders are different in different sectors and that the strong division of the labor market by gender slows down the equality and career growth of women. |
