As the most important human resource in education,teachers are increasingly attracting the attention of educational researchers.In some way,it largely influences the choice of teaching methods and the interaction between teachers and students.At the same time,it is a continuous and dynamic process,which is built through the whole process of teacher professional development and influenced by factors such as family background,learning experience and the work environment.Therefore,the research on teacher identity is particularly necessary.At present,a large number of researches on teacher identity and its formation have been carried out both in China and abroad.However there still exist many problems,like most of them focus on the study of in-service teachers,relatively few researches focus on the complexity of teacher identity formation,the research methods are relatively simple and the researches on the gender are even less scarce.In view of the above-mentioned,this paper takes the identity theory of Xun Yang as the theoretical basis,and divides the teacher identity into four aspects:career identity,professional identity,personal identity and situated identity.The author first collated and read the relevant research that had been done in the field before,and then analyzed Steven’s interpretation of his teacher identity.It also explores the changes and influencing factors of his teacher identity formation process.This paper aims to study the changes and influencing factors of Steven’s teacher identity as a male preservice teacher and it includes the following two questions:First,how does Steven’s teacher identity change;second,what are the factors that cause these changes.In order to solve these problems,qualitative research methods are used,including interviews,classroom observations and teacher log analysis.It has reached the goal of analyzing the change process and influencing factors of Steven’s teacher identity.The research finally reaches the conclusion that the career identity and the professional identity change greatly in the four aspects of teacher identity,while personal identity and situated identity are basically stable.The main influencing factors of the teacher identity are the resource allocation of the learning school,the influence of the English teacher and Steven’s own experience.The significance of this result is that for educational researchers,it is possible to develop a certain teacher training program for educators.While for educators,they can better understand students and better promote the education of normal students,especially the education of male normal students.
