| The rapidly changing modern society has put forward higher quality requirements for higher education.Exploring the Quality Assurance of higher education has become an important issue in the reform and development of higher education in the world.UK has made remarkable efforts and achievements on this topic.Past researches focused on the quality assurance of higher education in the UK from the system and mechanism.This study is based on the predecessors and hopes to reflect on the theory of quality assurance,so as to penetrate into the specific subject of higher education:Supervisors.As a centuried country in graduate education,UK has a wealth of initiatives and experience in ensuring the quality of graduate supervisors.Meanwhile,China is in the initial stage of the transition from a big country to a strong country in education.Due to the inconsistency between the expanding enrollment scale of graduate students and the cultivating mode under the current supervisor system,a series of quality problems of postgraduate education have aroused.This study intends to deconstruct the construction of the supervisor system of UK’s universities and perform an analyze by the perspective of quality assurance.The introduction part explains the origin of the problem and sorts out the research status,including the key concepts involved in the research and related literature review.Focusing on the research design of this paper,Quality Assurance is the research object also the research tool in this study,so the research is divided into four parts.The first chapter introduces and reflects on the history of the Quality Assurance of UK’s higher education.The historical process of the concept of Quality Assurance involves the cooperation game between the government and universities.The landing path is accompanied by the adjustment of the core governance institutions.The system of Quality Assurance has been continuously improved since the 1990s,and this historical trend has also promoted the evolution of the internal power structure of universities.Based on the investigation of this section of history,the research has drawn the analytical framework of Quality Assurance for next step.The second chapter introduces the initiatives of the three UK universities in assuring the quality of supervisors and shows their quality assurance institution framework based on the internal governance structure,also introduces the current selection,professional development,support and evaluation to ensure the quality of graduate supervisors.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of UK universities in promoting the quality assurance of graduate supervisors by exploring how their internal quality assurance system works,the characteristics of the power structure and the design of professional development projects.Finally,the fourth chapter combines the reality of the development of supervisors in China,and selects the organization resources,the guidance mechanism and the teacher’s quality as the hit points to put forward the immature suggestions for the future graduate education practice. |
