| Against the background of the current slowdown in the integration process of other regions around the world,regional economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region is still deepening and steadily advancing.Among them,ASEAN centrality in Asia-Pacific regional economic integration is gaining more and more attention from researchers,but the uncertainty of ASEAN centrality has increased due to the profound adjustment of the current regional situation.In this context,it is worth exploring how valid the centrality of ASEAN in Asia-Pacific regional economic integration is.Social network theory provides a new perspective and a scientific approach to the analysis of ASEAN centrality.The centrality analysis examines the position and importance of ASEAN as a network node in the Asia-Pacific regional economic integration network,so as to assess the validity of ASEAN centrality.Based on the connotation of centrality types,this paper extrapolates the three types of degree centrality,betweeness centrality and closeness centrality into three dimensions of attractiveness,"control" and dependence.By matching these three dimensions with the actual situation of ASEAN,we analyze the performance and challenges faced by ASEAN in terms of attractiveness,"control" and dependency,and make a universal examination of ASEAN centrality.Finally,in view of the significance of maintaining ASEAN centrality in promoting Asia-Pacific regional economic integration,this paper proposes countermeasures to enhance ASEAN centrality in terms of attractiveness,"control" and dependency,based on the factual basis presented in the three dimensions and the challenges faced by ASEAN centrality. |
