The Office Department exists universally in the organs and institutions,and the chief of staff,as the leader of the office department and the leader of the office work,not only undertakes the comprehensive work,but also takes the organizational structure point of view,it is also in a very special and important position.It is the complexity of the duties and functions of the Post that makes the chief of the office take on a variety of roles in the process of work.In the process of role orientation function realization,the office director needs to use each function flexibly and form a match between the function and the corresponding role orientation to promote the work.This shows that the implementation of the role positioning function has dynamic characteristics,which requires the office director to combine different job responsibilities and job characteristics to use flexibly.In such a situational working environment,the application of role positioning function is bound to meet some difficulties,which factors cause these difficulties,and which objective environmental factors are related to the realization of role positioning function,is there a pattern to this correlation? This article will focus on a series of issues concerning the role positioning of the office director,assisting the office director to better sort out the various duties,functions and their own post characteristics,for the office director of the smooth development of work to bring reference significance.Based on contingency theory and role theory,this paper interviewed 13 office directors and 2 office workers in different institutions,data on 110 chief of Staff and 16 office staff were collected through a questionnaire survey,this paper probes into the influence of the objective environmental factors such as the superior-subordinate relationship,the work structure and the authority on the realization of the role orientation function of the office director.The questionnaire survey helps to provide systematic quantitative data,and the interview rule mainly explores some questions which the questionnaire survey can not relate to,as a supplement to the research.The results show that the role orientation function of the Chief of staff does cause a series of problems,including unclear role,role conflict and overburdened role.The management style orientation of the office director and the different permutations and combinations of the objective environmental factors have a great correlation,which further affects the office director in the role positioning function choice.Finally,based on the above research results,this paper puts forward some suggestions and countermeasures from the organizational,institutional and personal levels,which can optimize the role orientation of the office director,including the adaptability between the chief of staff and the organizational culture,the accurate positioning in the organizational structure,the internal evaluation system within the office,and the enhancement of the validity of the selection of the chief of staff,and a series of factors,such as improving the level of matching between the office director and personal needs and the comprehensive quality,can provide reference value for the work of the office director.
