Research On The Construction Of Yancheng International Sister City Based On The City Friendship Interaction Index

With the continuous promotion of globalization,informatization and urbanization,the city has become an important support for China’s overall foreign strategy.The international sister-city relationship is an important way to bolster the city’s brand image,international communication capacity,voice in the world,and national cultural soft power.The international situation is undergoing complex and deep changes.COVID-19 is spreading at an unacceptable rate around the world,which has brought a huge impact on a totally international environment.Further opening-up in the international sister-city partnership in post-epidemic era becomes a new subject.This thesis reviews the history and development of Yancheng’s international sister cities,sorts out Yancheng’s international sister-city programs referring to the interaction system of the sister city of Special Report on China’s Urban Competitiveness(1973-2015),and gauges the trend in the international sister city work in the new era.The thesis is based on Xi Jinping’s thought on diplomacy,major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics,opening-up,and the impact of COVID-19 outbreak on international exchanges and cooperation,and the current situation of Yancheng’s pushing forward the construction of the international sister cities was studied.It is found that in Yancheng,the construction of the international sister cities focuses on the project,South Korea,ecology,resources,and social affairs,leading to such problems as a small quantity of friendship cities,unbalanced exchanges,insufficient participation and communication,and barriers to the management system,etc.In accordance to the actual exchanges and cooperation with South Korea,especially the exchanges and interactions with South Korea’s international sister cities during the epidemic period,the thesis analyzes the construction of South Korean sister cities.Finally,combined with the previous case analysis,the thesis puts forward the thoughts and suggestions on deepening the construction of Yancheng’s friendship city in post-epidemic era.In this thesis,the importance and necessity of promoting the construction of the friendship cities in post-epidemic era is emphasized,which helps build a community with a shared future for mankind and a new pattern of global governance.
