At the beginning of the Cold War,the US government gradually formed a set of government-private cooperation mechanism,secretly establishing or funding private voluntary organizations at home and abroad,and The Committee of Correspondence was one of the organizations funded by the CIA.The Committee of Correspondence was an organization founded by American women during the Cold War.Its purpose was "the truth will set you free".The primary task of the Committee of Correspondence was to deal with the unfavorable propaganda of the Soviet Union against the United States and prevent the United States from being in a disadvantageous position in the propaganda field.In addition,The Committee of Correspondence is committed to setting up workshops in overseas countries or regions,promoting the implementation of charity projects in local communities,families,women and children,and actively liaising with other international non-governmental organizations to expand the alliance of anti-communist camps in the West.Based on the Committee of Correspondence carried out in the Middle East aimed at women group in the form of cultural and social project analysis communications commission according to the Middle East women to carry out the activities in the Middle East project and the characteristics of the implementation of activities,try to explore the implementation of activities behind the deep motivation of the cold war,and with international perspective for evaluating the transnational communications commission to carry out the project.This paper tends to see the the Committee of Correspondence’s program for women in the Middle East as having a strong Cold War purpose,following a clear national agenda under the cover of an international identity.They actively project American values to the world,and seriously play the role of women in the operation of democracy and construct a good female image of the United States.However,in the process of implementing the Cold War programs,The Committee of Correspondence showed strong independence and autonomy,and showed a tendency to break free from the constraints of the Cold War.From a transnational perspective,its transnational exchange programs objectively promoted the cultural exchanges between the United States and the Middle East,and influenced the feminist movement of women in the United States and Middle East. |
