| Allen Meiksins Wood(1942-2016)is a famous Canadian Marxist theorist,and one of the founders of the "Political Marxism" school.The drastic changes in the Soviet and Eastern in the 1980 s and 1990 s seemed to confirm that capitalism was the best social system,and any deviation from it would not be a good outcome.At that time,most of the cultural and social science research also accepted the assumption that capitalism was effective,or adopted the arguement that “except capitalism,any other social model is impossible” by some historical terminationists.Since the 19 th century,there has never been any historical period in which there is an urgent need to carry out the work of criticizing capitalism.In the face of the predicament of Marxist theory,wood always adheres to the Marxist position,deeply criticizes capitalism and Post Marxism,restates the importance of Marxist class analysis paradigm,expounds her understanding of socialism,and tries to explore a road to rebuild socialism.Wood’s theory of socialism is rich in content.Based on the reality of capitalism,she foresaw the basic characteristics of the future society,and pointed out that the future society is the organic unity of economy and politics,the coexistence of freedom and control of public power,the true democracy and equality of social relations,and the realization of human freedom and comprehensive liberation.The way to realize the future society first needs to establish a new form of working class political party,with the working class as the revolutionary main body,united with other exploited classes as the revolutionary allies,to carry out class struggle,and at the same time should pay attention to occupy the high ground in the ideological field.Wood’s socialist theory has certain value,but it also has certain limitations,which needs to be treated dialectically.Wood’s socialist theory also has certain enlightening significance for contemporary China.In the great changes that have not happened in the world in a century,we should adhere to the class analysis paradigm of Marxism and build a democracy with the unity of economy and politics.At the same time,we should resist all kinds of erroneous thoughts and construct the discourse of Marxism in contemporary China. |
