A Study On The Construction Of Social Support System For Children In Urban Low-income Families

In 2012,the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed that building the All-Roundly Well-off Society in China should be regarded as the goal,and that the minimum living security rate of urban residents should reach more than 95% as an important index to build a well-off society in an all-round way,which reflects the party and the government’s concern for the people with minimum living standards.Children of urban subsistence families are a typical vulnerable group in the city,which is unique.This uniqueness is first reflected in their current difficulties in life,education,psychology and other aspects of the reasons are different from the sick children,they are faced with difficulties mainly caused by external factors.Secondly,this uniqueness is reflected in the group’s current self-help ability is not strong.Therefore,the author pays attention to the social support situation of the children of the urban subsistence families,and puts forward the measures to construct the social support system for the children of the urban subsistence families,.Based on the theory of social support,the author will use qualitative research methods to conduct in-depth interviews with 20 urban low-subsistence family children in C streets,their parents,community welfare directors and project social workers to understand the current social support situation of urban low-subsistence family children.It mainly includes formal support,quasi-formal support,informal support and professional technical support for children of urban subsistence families,and puts forward measures to construct social support for children of urban subsistence families from the perspective of ecosystem theory.Through the investigation,the author found that the children of urban subsistence families are not in absolute poverty,but his living environment is not optimistic,and there are some problems in life,education,medical treatment and psychology.At present,with the development of society,the social support system of urban minimum living families and children is constantly improved,and it plays a supporting role for children.However,the author finds that the social support system of urban children is still not perfect.The government and family are the main sources of material support for children in urban subsistence families,and relatives can also provide material support for children in urban subsistence families.However,the material support they provide for children in urban subsistence families can only meet the basic life of children in urban subsistence families.In the aspect of children’s education,the school is the main one,the family is the auxiliary,but the parents of the urban minimum living families have low cultural capital and insufficient ability to educate the children.In the aspect of mental health,the families and peers of the children of urban subsistence families can give emotional support to this group,but the social subjects do not pay enough attention to the children of urban subsistence families.In addition to the support provided by the Government,families,schools and relatives to children from urban subsistence families,peer groups,neighbourhoods,communities,social work institutions and social workers of urban subsistence families can also support children from urban subsistence families.Based on the shortcomings of various social support subjects in solving these problems.Based on the theory of ecosystem,the author puts forward some suggestions to improve the social support system of urban minimum living families and children.First,the government should pay attention to the individualized needs of children from urban subsistence families,further improve the policy,and provide special policy support for this group.At the same time,we should pay attention to the improvement of social work ability and its role in providing services to children of urban subsistence families.Second,the community should play its role as a grass-roots mass organization to serve the children of urban subsistence families.Third,social work institutions and social workers should play the role of integrating resources and coordinate the social support subjects to support the children of urban subsistence families.At the same time,social workers should constantly improve their professional knowledge and skills,constantly explore practice,play the role of resource linkers,supporters and service providers,and provide professional services for children from urban subsistence families.Fourth,the schools and families of the children of urban subsistence families play the role of providing support for the group and improving self-control.
