A Study On The Strategies Of EU Political Parties To Promote Women’s Political Participation

Gender equality is one of the fundamental values of the EU,and it is also the reason that the EU has been committed to the mainstreaming of gender equality in various fields in recent years.The realization of gender equality in the political field is an important part of the realization of gender equality in the decision-making field,which is mainly reflected in the promotion of women’s political status,encouraging more women to participate in the process of national decision-making,and increasing the proportion of women in national decision-making departments and functional departments.After decades of efforts by the EU,through the formulation of relevant laws and policies,the degree of gender equality in the entire political and social environment has been greatly improved,but more efforts are needed to achieve gender equality.Some research reports on women’s participation in politics in the European Union point out that institutional factors,social and cultural factors,economic factors,etc.,are the main factors affecting women’s participation in politics.By observing and studying the relevant documents and reports of the EU in recent years,it can be found that the EU has increasingly emphasized the role of women in political participation,and political parties should take the initiative to play a positive role in promoting women’s political participation.Under the call of the European Union,many political parties,in order to cope with the changes of the actual situation,expand the political participation of women within the party,in view of the current female political participation in the lack of confidence,resources to obtain difficulties,difficult to balance family and work time and other issues,made strategic attempts.There are three main strategies: rhetoric strategy,positive action strategy and positive discrimination strategy.Each strategy reflects the party’s attitude towards women’s participation in politics and its emphasis on solving the problem of insufficient female participation in politics.Through the implementation of the above three strategies,the environment of female political participation in EU has been improved,and the trend of democratization of political parties has become more and more obvious.This study takes the strategies of EU political parties to promote women’s participation in politics as the research object,and adopts social gender analysis,comparative analysis and literature research methods to deeply discuss the strategies of political parties to promote women’s participation in politics in the EU.Mainly from the implementation of the party policy background,main contents and implementation effect and so on three aspects to introduce,through the analysis of the data,case must be taken by the European Union countries parties in promoting women into strategy and its implementation,and summarize the main types of political strategy,analysis results as well as the limitations of existence.The specific structure of the paper is as follows:Chapter 1,Introduction,mainly introduces the research background and significance,research status at home and abroad,research framework and methods,and innovation.The second chapter mainly combs the relationship between female participation in politics and political parties.Starting from the concept of female participation in politics,it elaborates the role of political parties in female participation in politics and the necessity of adopting political party strategies.The third chapter,taking the European Union as the analysis sample,analyzes the background of the implementation of political party strategies,and finds that the role of political parties in the process of female political participation in the European Union is becoming more and more obvious,and multiple factors make political parties begin to reflect on their own significance for female political participation,and adopt strategies to deal with the needs of the country and society.The fourth chapter,through the EU countries political parties to promote the implementation of the current situation of female participation in politics and the three main political party strategies for specific case analysis,and the implementation of the effect is summarized.The fifth chapter reflects on the strategies adopted by EU political parties,analyzes the limitations of political parties’ strategies and the enlightenment gained from them.The last part is a summary,which elaborates the experience of EU political parties in promoting women’s participation in politics and the reference significance to other countries in the world.
