The Study Of American Factors In The Development Of Japan-korea Relations After The Cold War | Posted on:2022-02-13 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Z G Zhang | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2506306332950789 | Subject:Diplomacy | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Japan and South Korea are important countries in Northeast Asia and are also allies of the United States.However,due to a series of historical and practical problems,the development of Japan-South Korea relations has been lagging behind the development of Japan-U.S.and Korea-U.S.relations.Such an uneven development pattern has also greatly affected the implementation of US policies in Asia.As the only superpower in the world today,the US ally policy has a great impact on Japan and South Korea.This thesis mainly discusses the American factors in Japan-South Korea relations after the Cold War.It analyzes the changes in American policies in different periods to know the changes in Japan-South Korea relations,and further analyzes the future trend of Japan-South Korea relations.This paper is including six parts:The first chapter is the introduction of all the thesis,which mainly introduces the background and the significance of the thesis,as well as the research status and methods used in the thesis.The second chapter of the thesis mainly introduces the American factors in the development of Japan-South Korea relations before the end of the Cold War.Totally speaking,the United States does not intervene in the specific negotiation agenda between Japan and South Korea,nor does it publicly express its position on historical events.Therefore,the United States has not promoted the settlement of Japan-South Korea relations.The third chapter of the thesis mainly introduces the American factors in Japan-South Korea economic cooperation after the Cold War.However,Japan and South Korea have been in a state of "political cold and economic hot" for a long time.There are also problems in the economic relationship,which also adds more variables to the future development of the relationship between the two countries.The fourth chapter of the thesis mainly introduces the political exchanges between Japan and South Korea have been continuously strengthened.At the same time,out of its own strategic intent to establish hegemony in Northeast Asia,the United States is also actively promoting Japan-South Korea security and military exchanges at this stage,and promoting the establishment of a US-Japan-Korea alliance.After entering the 21 st century,because of the historical issues,Japan and South Korea have not achieved substantive development at this stage.The fifth chapter of the thesis mainly introduces the American factors in the process of solving the historical issues of Japan and South Korea after the Cold War.Historical issues are an important factor influencing the long-term failure of Japan-South Korea relations.At the same time,because the United States has always put its own interests first in its interactions with Japan and South Korea,it is unwilling to intervene in Japan and South Korea.In specific historical disputes,Japan and South Korea did not receive much assistance from the United States on historical issues.The United States would only intervene when it threatened the US-Japan-Korea alliance or the United States’ own interests.The last part of the thesis is the conclusion.Due to a series of historical and practical reasons,Japan-Korea relations will be difficult to repair in the short term.In the future,if the two sides want to improve relations,in addition to the efforts of the two countries themselves,the U.S.also needs to take actual measures to coordinate. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Japan-Korea relations, American factors, Economic cooperation, Political cooperation, Historical issues | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
