Research On The Training Class For Nanyue Guerrilla Cadres During The Anti-Japanese War

The Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class was the main measure of the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation in training guerrilla cadres during the Anti-Japanese War,and it was a model of military cooperation between the Kuomintang(KMT)and the Communist Party of China(CPC)during the Anti-Japanese War.Through the study of the origin,process and training content s of the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class during the Anti-Japanese War,this thesis not only intends to conduct a further research on the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class itself,but also aims to explore the theory of the Communist Party’s guerrilla warfare to a deeper extent.At the same time,through the study of the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class during the Anti-Japanese War,this thesis also intends to reflect the changes in the Kuomintang’s understanding of guerrilla warfare and CPC during the Anti-Japanese War,which will hopefully enrich the research on the relationship between the KMT and the CPC during the Anti-Japanese War,and provide a historical perspective on the relationship between the KMT and the CPC today.The Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class was a product of the cooperation between KMT and the CPC after the Anti-Japanese War entering the stalemate stage.Its founding was not only inseparable from the good situation of cooperation between KMT and the CPC in the early stage of the Anti-Japanese War,but also benefited from the impact of the CPC’s outstanding performance in guerrilla warfare on senior KMT generals.At the same time,during the stalemate stage,the Japanese military’s focus shifted to the battlefield behind enemy lines.At that time,KMT focused on guerrilla warfare and the CPC largely promoted on the theory of guerrilla warfare,which also played an important role in establishing Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class.It can be said that the establishment of the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class not only conformed to CPC’s wish to unite the whole nation to fight against Japanese invaders,but was also consistent with the needs of KMT at its second phase of the Anti-Japanese War.It was the necessary consequence of the cooperation of KMT and the CCP in the stalemate stage.The training contents of the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class were very rich.Among them,training on guerrilla warfare tactics and combat essentials was the top priority of its training.During the training process,the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class has always implemented the three-in-one principle of "teaching,learning,and doing" and the three-in-one principle of "management,education,and training".Detailed and in-depth training in guerrilla tactics,basic military technology,military and political knowledge,party and league business as well as mentality were conducted from three aspects: military,political,and spiritual,which generally features "Political education and military education goes hand in hand","Theoretical disciplines consist the major part of teaching,while military tactics supplement","Theory and practice combine together".The Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class aimed to cultivate compound talents who were capable of fighting guerrilla warfare,had high proficiency in party,government and military business,and held firm beliefs.With the joint efforts of the KMT and the CPC,the Nanyue guerrilla cadre training course was successfully held for three sessions,and more than 3,000 guerrilla cadres were trained.After graduation,these cadres went to various parts of the country to conduct guerrilla warfare extensively,and successfully opened up a number of guerrilla battlefields behind enemy lines,where the Japanese invaders were heavily hit.During the period of Nanyue guerrilla cadre training class,the Communist Party of China always adhered to the policy of uniting all to fight against Japanese invaders,and actively cooperated with the Kuomintang.This not only consolidated the anti-Japanese national united front,but also eliminated some misunderstandings,expanded its own political influence,and improved the image of the CPC.More importantly,it provides historical reference for cultivating military cadres,carrying out united front work,and advancing the third Kuomintang-Communist cooperation in the new era.
