Research On The Relationship Between Multinational Corporations And Home Country

Nowadays,multinational corporations have become the main actors in the international political arena.Their influence in international affairs is not limited to the economic category,but gradually spread to the political,cultural and other fields.The importance of multinational corporations in the study of international political economy is increasing.Due to the dual characteristics of transnational and national characteristics,multinational corporations will not necessarily have cooperative or non-cooperative relationship with the home government.This paper takes multinational corporations and the home country as the main research object,aiming to explore the specific situation and relationship between them.As different organizations,MNCs and their home countries have different interests.The fundamental goal of multinational corporations is to obtain economic benefits,and the national interests pursued by the governmment are more extensive,so the relationship between multinational corporations and their home countries will change with the change of specific interests.In the first chapter,this paper first analyzes the interests of multinational companies and national interests,makes clear that the fundamental interests of multinational companies are economic interests,and makes an in-depth interpretation of national interests.After introducing the concept of globalization,the national interest is subdivided into the globalization interest of the home country.Then it puts forward the framework of the relationship between MNCs and home country.The second chapter summarizes and discusses the four main relationships between MNCs and their home countries under the interests of national security,global economy,world order and ideology,namely,protection,cooperation,cooperative game and non-cooperative game.The third chapter analyzes the changes of the relationship between the MNCs and the home country from the perspective of the diplomatic purpose of the home government and the strength of the MNCs,and gives specific explanations with examples in the fourth chapter.Among the four relationships,the protection relationship under the national security interest and the cooperation relationship under the global economic interest are the most common and the most extensive.The protection relationship includes not only the consular protection for all the citizens and legal persons of the home country,but also the protection for the multinational companies in specific industries or countries.On the basis of protecting relationship,cooperative relationship emphasizes the relationship of mutual benefit between the two.For the cooperative game relationship under the interests of world order and the non-cooperative game relationship under the interests of ideology,whether such a relationship will occur depends on the strength of the comprehensive national strength of the home government and the development stage of multinational companies.
