Legal Requirements And Challenges For FDI In Cambodia

Royal Government of Cambodia is trying to promote and attract the investment in order to development.The aim to push up an economic growth and absorb further investments to Cambodia,with political stabilities and sustainable growth are the main concern for investment environment.More than two decades,Cambodia has been changed from the problem and challenges to opportunities.1 Since Cambodia’s economic raising up has only just begun,under the strongest man,Prime Minister HUN SEN,leading Cambodia to reach up the stable economic and standard of living improvement as well as the economic development and a good economic environment,Cambodia’s economic growth rate of 7.7%per year.2 The Royal Government of Cambodia strives to provide incentives investment,in which enjoy in Special Economic Zones’ framework that facilitate investment,access to incentives and guarantees through improved administrative procedures.Development in Special Economic Zones is a vision and modernization to reduce the time required to apply for investment,especially to attract investment.It is really reflected that Royal Government’s attention to the attractive environment for foreign investment from everywhere.In order to ensure maximum attractiveness to investors,the Royal Government of Cambodia has initiated and committed to developing a system of policies and strategies to directly monitor and manage operations in order to facilitate and provide investors with on-demand services as well as to ensure all investors to operate in a peaceful,secure and stable investment climate.3 Furthermore,I will mention the legal requirement and procedures for investing in Cambodia,especially foreign direct investment.The investment in Cambodia can be divided into three categories,investment which located outside the Special Economic Zones,investment in Special Economic Zones and the establishment of Special Economic Zones.These three categories of investments have similar qualifications and are encouraged and guaranteed according to the qualifications that each investor meets.In addition,I will mention the economic and investment environment in Cambodia as well as Cambodia’s potentials.Meanwhile,I will make a shortly mention on the relationship between Cambodia and China on investment as well as some key strategies for Chinese investors.
