Slavery has prevailed in the North American continent as early as the colonial period. The colonists passed legislation to legalize slavery. The United States even used the Constitution to protect slavery when it established its constitution. After the Civil War,although slavery was abolished in the legal sense,deep-rooted racial discrimination has spread in American society. Before the 1960 s,there were endless incidents of racial discrimination in society, and the fight for equal civil rights among African Americans never stopped.Under the international public opinion on human rights protection, the Warren Court, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the rise of the black civil rights movement, etc.directly gave birth to three civil rights bills in the 1960s(the Civil Rights Act of 1964,the Voting Rights Act of 1965)And the "Fair Housing Act of 1968").The three civil rights bills enacted in the1960 s were crucial to the process of African Americans obtaining equal legal rights. They liberated African Americans in all directions and profoundly affected American society. These three bills protect the right of African Americans to vote, prohibit racial discrimination and racial segregation, prohibit racial discrimination in employment, prohibit racial discrimination in federal projects, and prevent and post-remedy measures against racial segregation and racial discrimination. It has made very clear and specific regulations;if it is stipulated that all citizens of the United States shall have equal voting rights,no region shall set various conditions based on race or color to deprive citizens of the United States of their right to vote;it is completely prohibited to use public dining halls, public schools, and other social publics. The practice of racial segregation in the field guarantees the equal rights of African Americans to education from a legislative and judicial perspective. It also made specific provisions for almost all threats and racial discrimination that may be involved in the process of selling and renting houses.Fundamentally ensure that African-Americans will not be racially discriminated against due to gender, color, race, religion, and family status in real estate transactions;establish various positions or agencies to monitor and investigate segregation and racial discrimination,Citizens who have suffered racial discrimination receive judicial relief. After the promulgation of the three civil rights bills, the political status of African Americans has been greatly improved, their living standards have been greatly improved, and a considerable number of African Americans have entered the ranks of the middle class;in the phenomenon of segregation After being eliminated, the education level of African Americans has been greatly improved;at the same time,it has promoted racial integration in urban areas.Legally,it promoted the promulgation of the 24 th and 26 th Amendments to the Constitution, expanded the meaning of the 14 th Amendment to the Constitution, and expanded the scope of this provision to guarantee that American citizens enjoy procedural equal legal rights; At the same time, through the actual application of the Civil Rights Act,equal judicial power, independent defense rights, and perfect voting rights are included in the protection scope of the equal protection clause, which enriches the content of the fourteenth amendment to the Constitution. The conclusion part analyzes that the American social system is the root cause of racial discrimination. The invisible racial discrimination is everywhere in the United States. It is far from enough to cure the chronic disease of racism by the law alone. It needs to be supplemented with relevant measures to ensure that the law is truly implemented.
