Laos has a special geographical location, and its relations with neighboring countries are more complicated. Its security perspective is unique compared to any other country. In the past,Laos had never reached the status of “survival security” in any period of history.Due to its lack of comprehensive strength,it will also “seek survival” in the geopolitical structure of the Indochina Peninsula in the future. And this seemingly dangerous geographical feature is also an important element for Laos to promote its national security and is a “double-edged sword.” Laos uses its own geographical advantages to make up for the lack of security is the focus of Laos’ national security.Since China’s “Belt And Road” strategy and “Community With A Shared Future” were proposed,Laos has responded positively and has further ties with China. However,Laos’ cooperation with China is not a matter of course. In addition to huge returns, its security perspective is often easily overlooked. This is a manifestation of our country’s lagging behind the situation in the study of neighboring small states.Laos has huge geo-strategic value for China. Not only does Laos depend on China, but China also depends on Laos. The general national security strategy theory is only applicable to the framework for Laos, because it mainly uses the behavior of large countries as the background, and the small country’s national security strategy theory is ambiguous in its emphasis on “geographical”,so this article will further the study point from the perspective of “small states” to “small landlocked states”.First, define what is a “small landlocked state”.Second, analyze the national security perspective of the small states, and then analyze the national security perspective of the “small landlocked states”on this basis. After locking in the security perspective of the “small landlocked states”,combining the national security strategy theory to analyze the influencing factors of Laos’ national security, and then analyzing the overall characteristics of Laos’ national security strategy from the perspective of comprehensive security and geopolitics, and finally analyzing the path of Laos’ national security strategy.Through the research in this article,it is found that Laos’ national security from the perspective of a “landlocked small state” presents its own unique strategic needs, which is also a feature of country studies. The analysis of Lao’s national security strategy can push the country’s study of this country to a deeper level on the level of security. At the same time, studying the Laos security perspective can also bring important implications for the comprehensive deepening of China-Laos relations.Familiarity with small countries is especially important for the interaction between big and small states.Taking China-Laos relations as an example,Familiarity with the main strategies of Laos’ national security will allow China to find more room to help Laos solve practical difficulties, which will greatly help the smooth construction of the “China-Laos Community With A Shared Future” and provide an example for China’s major power strategy of “going out”.
