The way of livelihood is generated by human beings based on adapting to the living environment.Changes in the environment usually cause changes in the way of livelihoods, and changes in livelihoods cause social and cultural changes, thereby impacting social order. Not only being human being’s instinct demand, social order is also the prerequisite to the existence and development of society.Since the beginning of human civilization, any society needs to be in order, which needs to be maintained. Therefore, this paper attempts to take Heping Village,a village in the Sino-Vietnam border,as a field point,to analyze the phenomenon of "labor return" and " living on a mountain, live off the mountain" livelihood under the background of globalization and marketization, and to explore the cultural logic behind.Heping Village locates in the east of Dongzhong Town,Fangcheng District,Fangchenggang City,Guangxi Province,on the Sino-Vietnam border. It is a village of pure Yao.Since 1949,the way of livelihood of the Yao people in Heping Village has changed from "shift farming" to "settled farming",and then from "settled farming" to "mountain forest" economy. At the same time, with the process of urbanization in China, the young Yao people choose to go out to work as an important way of living. The changes of Yao’s way of life have changed his social culture and social life.Although its social relationship based on " reciprocity" and the social order constructed based on it have been impacted to some extent,it has realized "ordering" on the whole. From the local perspective,Yao people’s "return" is mainly based on the forces of "parents’ power" and group habits.Their preference for "living on a mountain, live off the mountain" livelihood is mainly based on the principles of "survival first" and "safety first",and is included in their social relationship based on "reciprocity".It shows not only theexperience of life, but also the wisdom of life. The reason why Yao people can maintain the social order of " living on a mountain, live off the mountain" is closely related to the "differential order pattern" of Yao people’s social structure.Yao people’s social relationship based on "reciprocity" plays a very important role in social integration. And in the meanwhile,as a means of social regulation and control, the similar values and common folk beliefs formed by Yao people in the social relationship of mutual help and assistance plays also a very important role in maintaining the special social order of Yao people.
