Study On Social Mobility Of The Poor Family Youth In Rural Areas

For the fourth decades’ reform and opening,China’s economy is developing from high speed to high quality,and Chinese society is developing towards common prosperity.In this unprecedented historic change,China has maintained a large-scale social mobility during the period of social transformation.However,compared with the horizontal flow in geographical space,the vertical flow in economic and social status is still insufficient and unreasonable.It’s difficult for poor youth living in rural areas to get rid of the intergenerational transmission of poverty.Part of them are forced to inherit the poor environment which experienced by their parents and grandparents.A harmonious and civilized country must have its own social structure,only in this way can we have a fair and just social mobility mechanism to ensure the mobility of all walks of life.This paper studies the social mobility of the poor family youth in rural areas and puts forward some solutions.On the one hand,it is conducive to alleviate the contradictions between social classes;on the other hand,it is conducive to the final construction of our harmonious society.This paper takes the the poor family youth in Shaoxing Wangtan Town as the research object,and interviews thirty-six representative youth with case interview method.According to interviews,the author discovers that the poor family youth in rural areas have achieved a large scale of social mobility in the form of entering a higher school,doing business,doing work for others,public examinations and campus recruitment,but not so many of them have actually achieved economic and social status.In the process of social mobility,this youth group shows four characteristics:the whip of origin,the tortuosity of process,the autonomy of choice and the contradiction of will.Insufficient social mobility has a negative impact on the benign operation of Chinese society,which will lead individual psychological problems,reduce the family happiness index,and shake social harmony and stability.Factors influencing the sufficient social mobility of the poor family youth in rural areas include the insufficiency of pre-endowed conditions,the potential impact of poor culture,and the limitations of youth self-awareness.In view of these reasons,this paper puts forward three opinions:safeguarding social equity,inplemengting precise poverty alleviation,transmitting positive ideas,to weaken the disadvantageous factors,break the cultural foundation of poverty,and broaden the cognitive vision of youth.Only by weakening the pre-endowment factors which lead to the class curing of the youth groups,and strengthening the positive role of the post-endowment factors in promoting the mobility of the youth groups,can the the poor family youth in rural areas get out of the shadow of poverty and enter a new world of prosperity and happiness.
